Skydive Elsinore is located approximately one hour away from both San Diego and Los Angeles metropolitan areas, nestled in the scenic Elsinore Valley, home to Southern California's largest natural lake and next to the beautiful Ortega Mountains. Skydive Elsinore was established in 1959 and is the longest running skydiving operation in North America, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2009. Skydive Elsinore prides itself with having the friendliest staff in the industry. Skydivers locally, nationally and internationally are treated second to none. Everyone who walks onto the property leaves with a smile on their faces. Skydivers commonly refer to Skydive Elsinore as their "home away from home". Skydive Elsinore's unique layout was carefully planned to offer skydivers ease of use. The 8,000 sq. ft. covered and carpeted packing area with cool misters, offers skydivers UV protection for their equipment and comfort for packing. Adjacent to the packing area is 1.5 acres of plush grass which is the main landing area. The landing area is carefully maintained and is nicer to land on than a well manicured golf course. The aircraft loading area is adjacent to the landing areas. No bus rides, undue sun exposure, or long walks make for the most comfortable skydiving environment possible. Along with these amenities; Skydive Elsinore has beautiful air-conditioned team and video debriefing areas. But enough about all that - just come see it for yourself.

Of my 1200 jumps, 90% have been at Elsinore. I completed my AFF training there in 2006 and considered it a second home for a long time afterwards. The people are great, the school instruction is outstanding, and it's a very fun place to hang out. However, the dropzone makes very little effort to keep intermediate jumpers, well, jumping. Most events and activities cater entirely to newbie jumpers. Little is done to encourage or facilitate skill advancement beyond the most basic levels. Even the skills camps offered are now mostly run by jumpers who themselves have merely 500 jumps or less. This has resulted in a situation where as jumpers gain experience, they simply move on to another dz. Every year, it seems that fewer teams train at Elsinore because of this. Elsinore hasn't even had a strong open class team to be proud of like Perris Furry since Gravity was dismantled in, I think, 2006. Also every year, there are fewer and fewer experienced fun jumpers around with whom you can throw together a challenging jump that doesn't immediately turn into a zoo dive after exit. Basically, the overall experience level of "regulars" has dropped significantly in the past few years to the point where I no longer desire to jump there. I'm completely.... bored. And for that reason, I wouldn't recommend Elsinore for anything other than AFF or tandem jumps. (Or Chicks Rock, which is usually a lot of fun no matter what your skill level.) I wish the owners would make an effort to return Elsinore to its former glory, but my impression is that the owners have lost their passion for skydiving as a sport and now think of their dz strictly in business terms. It's too bad.

Dec 20 2009 was my First Jump Course. I found my way to Elsinore while working on a project in the LA area...It’s a wonderful place that I already miss (was just there a day ago) and can’t wait to return. It is the place and the people who introduced me to this awesome sport. I rate Elsinore high in all categories for good reason...and this is why:

*Professionalism - "How they treat you regardless of your experience level"...I was the epitome of newbie…It must have been stamped across my forehead (and could still be). From my first encounter with the girls in the sales office through my last jump at this place, I was amazed. Everyone was helpful, pleasant, and very professional…they go above and beyond.
*Vibe – “Friendliness, Cliques…”…I did see many of the same people hanging with each other. Would I consider these cliques??? Not really…I see it more as people/friends spending time together that share comparable skill and ability levels in a technical and challenging sport (as I think it should be). Regardless, everyone was very friendly, upbeat, inviting, and encouraging.
*Aircraft – Two Twin Otters/Super Otters with good drivers.
*Facilities – A long list which includes: RV parking and hookups, a camping area (on some nice grass), bunkhouse, bathrooms (…nice clean bathrooms), showers, snack bar/grill, classrooms, team rooms, covered/shaded packing area, creeping area, TV’s to view videos…and a nice and large landing area that is well maintained.
*Services – rigging, load organizers, rentals, and a gear shop (friendly staff). Elsinore’s best service (in my opinion)…the Instructors, coaches, and videographers. They are professionals in every way that go the extra mile. As someone new to the sport, I was looking for certain things (however, at the time, I didn’t know what those things were)…safety, outstanding instruction, a sense of belonging, honest feedback on performance, and confidence (in my instructors and from my instructors) and fun filled.
*Location – Elsinore is very accessible (about 2 miles off I-15). In addition, multiple airports in the area provide a good alternative to the time/distance/difficulty of LAX. It wouldn't be justice if I said the scenery is beautiful…snow capped mountains to the east and a view of the coastline to the west (unforgettable through the mind’s eye).

My only regret with Elsinore…only 19 jumps. It is a place everyone can enjoy. If you are just getting into the sport (like me) and want great instructors and a wonderful experience, this is the place. And, I suspect that if you are experienced and want to further develop or expand your skill set, they have the instructors for that too. Did I mention the scenery is awesome?

Thanks for the experience,

Kirby

I love this place! From the moment I walked in for the first time, all the girls at the office where super nice. Everyone there was so friendly. The tandem instructors where all very polite and did great job with me and my friends. photographers are all funny and friendly as well.

Only complaint I have is the fact that the student landing zone is really messy. Needs to be cleaned up. Full of bushes and dirt. Also the damm wind sucks in the afternoon when you take your first AFF you probable wont be able to jump alone that day because of it. Good thing is they offer you a $40 discount if that does happen, and you still get credit for the level 1.

Other then that everything was awesome!

I just wanted to write a review to inform you of the great experience I had with the staff at skydive lake Elsinore.
On 04/21/2008, my brother and I decided to come to Skydive Lake Elsinore to attend an AFF1 class. The class was instructed by Brianne Thompson. Brianne taught the class in a very professional manner and was able to still keep the class interesting. after in class training it was time to jump! our class was then introduced to Mark, Matt, Yong, Caesar, and Lelo.
These guys are the best!! After making my first jump with Matt and Lobo, I was defiantly hooked. Not only did they make me feel safe they made it fun. I then cancelled all my plans for the next week and paid for the next 7 classes. During the next 7 classes these guys exceeded my expectations, I was treated not only as a student but also like a friend. During the instruction and the jump they didn’t only stress the details that were needed to pass each AFF Level but to also make sure I was safe and enjoyed the experience.
In conclusion, I personally want to thank you for employing such a great group of people each of them went way past what was need to get this rock to fly.
Thanks again,

Jarrett Hale

P.S. see ya in 3-4 weeks!!

Everyone must do this at least once in their lifetime! This was my first jump so I read a ton of reviews prior to deciding on a place to jump. It was between this and San Diego. I originally decided on Skydive Elsinore because it was closer and after reading the reviews. Well I am so glad that I did! This place was great. Kelly my tandem partner was fantastic! Even though he has probably done this hundreds of times he was as excited as I was. His enthusiasm was contagious. In fact he may have been more excited for me than I was! He explained everything I was supposed to do clearly. He made me feel completely at ease; I wasn't nervous at all! The camera man was great. I got some awesome photos! The video, with special effects, was ready a few minutes after landing! They even included the people I was with in the photos which was really nice to have. You also get a tee shirt and certificate after your jump. I highly recommend Skydive Elsinore for both the facility, the people and the absolute beautiful location!

Awesome! I can't say enough great things about Skydive Elsinore. I bought my husband a tandem jump for his 30th birthday this month. I called a number of drop zones in the area and read reviews online and I am so glad I picked SE. The were really friendly and just a ton of fun. His tandem partner was Chad who made it a great experience and his photographer/dvd jumper was Pat who just cracked us up. They didn't make you feel bad at all that you were a first time jumper...they just wanted you to enjoy it as much as they do every day. It totally convinced me that I want to go. We will definitely be back!

Well I started jumping here in april of 07. Its now oct and I have 88jumps. I did my first tandem here like 2yrs ago and loved it then too. Ive traveled to 3 or 4 different DZ's since I have started jumping, but there is nothing like home. The people, parties and jumping are da shiznit!... and no matter what your experience level is, there is someone to jump with. I still havnt purchased my rig yet and I have been renting from ground zero and they have helped me down size every time giving me there thoughts on what I should jump next. Ive have been able to rent a lot of different parachutes and containers and that has helped me in my decision to purchase a rig. I definately recommend this place to anyone and hopefully I will see you there.

The nicest dropzone I visited in sheer beauty. The mountain backdrop and valley view alone are worth the trip; the facility is worthy of the location. Very friendly people, truly interested in assisting me in having fun and safe skydives. I jumped with great people thanks to the organizers and staff, made new friends, and loved it at Lake Elsinore.

DZO Carl has made me feel at home every time I've been here, as well as the rest of the staff. There's something here for everyone, no matter the number of jumps, style or disipline. Plenty of covered areas to pack and people to meet. Bunk it, tent it or passed out in the field, plan a few days to hang around. The casino gives skydivers'rates and is only a mile away. The parties are legendary and always fun at this DZ. Someone from the staff is always around to help anyone in need. Thanks for being here Elsinore, U Rock!

Everything I'd heard about this place is true and understated. Meeting up with Melanie, Steak, Jonathon, Frankie, Chris and the rest will make anyone feel right at home. The facilities are superb along with a very well maintained gear shop. Rental gear is both affordable and well taken care of. Even someone with a very limited number of jumps should have no problem finding someone of amazing talents to fly with. ...and of course, there's Angie's place!!

Me and my friends wanted to go skydiving for our spring break, so after reading the reviews here we thought that Elsinore Skydiving would be the best choice for us, turns out it met and exceeded our expectations! Everyone had an amazing time, staff was very friendly, great vibe and ambiance, and no problems at any point of the visit because everything is so organized there. I will definitely be back as my tandem jump experience was so amazing. Thanks again folks at Elsinore!

I came to elsinore with 13 jumps, with the last jump being 3 months prior (thanks east coast winter). In a day and a half i was able to get 6 jumps in and would have been much more if the wind behaved. No appointments or anything. I felt welcomed and everyone was willing to help and give you tips. Special thanks for the tips and help to: Lob, Chris, Mel, Chad, Mark, and Marie who put up with my babysitting the windspeed. Overall feel of the dz was relaxed - It was clear that people were there to have a good time. Nobody stuck-up and no jump gods to tiptoe around. Very accomodating! - in 16mph winds landed two tandems right next to each other on a white carpet so the man can propose to his girlfriend as they landed!! Only bad thing was that i wasn't allowed to rent gear/size of main that i have been jumping. That will not be an issue once I have an A license so its a very temporary complaint. Even when no one is jumping the dz organizes events and parties - for example I missed the priest/prostitute theme party by a week! If one were to drop everything and move out here I don't think they would regret it. TEMPTING! Thanks to everyone for a very memorable day of jumping!

Let's start with the logistics of it all. I live in New Jersey. Skydive Elsinore is in California. That¡¦s a pretty nice distance away, an entire country in fact. Despite that difference I flew to Elsinore four times last season and I¡¦m heading back in two weeks.

This place is great. The separate, huge landing areas keep jumpers safe. The staff, always there and willing to talk and give advice, make it a great learning environment. Ground Zero is open all the time, no matter the weather. Organized skydives every weekend bring skill levels up and keep them there. Whether you freefly, belly fly, or do that silly wingsuit stuff ƒº, you¡¦ve got someone to jump with who knows what they¡¦re doing. Forget about the regular old typical skydive. When you come to Elsinore you¡¦ll find yourself experiencing other disciplines, getting on great hybrids, learning from highly talented experienced jumpers, and doing all sorts of other things that keep you learning.

The coaches there are excellent, giving out good advice that improves skill and challenges less experienced jumpers just enough to keep them safe and have them pushing their limits and discovering new abilities.
The owners, just all round great men who will go out of their way to make sure your stay is comfortable and good. The fun jumpers are just as great company at the dinner table as they are in the sky. When you come here you don¡¦t just make friends, you keep friends.

I went to Elsinore twice last March and then I didn¡¦t get back until Chicks Rock boogie in October. After the huge success of Chicks Rock I returned home and immediately started making plans to return. Before I knew it I was booked to spend Christmas out there. Elsinore folks didn¡¦t disappoint and it was a great holiday with even greater friends. I love this place. I love the people.

I got home on New Year¡¦s Day and on January 3rd I booked another flight out for Presidents weekend. When I tell you this place is home I mean it. If I didn¡¦t have a full time job I¡¦d spend the entire winter out there. I¡¦m looking to move out there, which would mean leaving a good job here. It¡¦s in large part to the drop zone and the people who built it. You will make friends for life.

Southern California offers it all. Multiple airports nearby, including San Diego, LAX, and the best one of all for its location and location, Ontario airport in Ontario, CA. There¡¦s skiing, snowboarding, skydiving, surfing, wind tunnel flying, a rock climbing mecca, and so much more. Other dropzones are nearby with good people and their own perks. The beauty of having so many drop zones in one area is that each one can carve out its own self. Elsinore, well it¡¦s done a great job of creating a one of a kind place.

Come see for yourself or check out the website. Stop by the ¡§Around the dz¡¨ section and see for yourself how much fun we have out there.

I have been driving the 4 hours to Elsinore pretty much every weekend this summer! Its been worth it. I love this DZ. Thanks to all the instructors and coaches that helped me on my way to my A license. I look forward to many more visits for years to come.

Elsinore has an incredible vibe, great staff, quality instruction and coaching (some like the Excel camp is FREE), nice Super Otters, a HUGE landing area, year round jumping weather. Oh and did I mention that the vibe and people are incredible?

My hubby (experienced jumper) and I have been here several times and it is the best DZ in the area. The staff are friendly and helpful to jumpers with any level of experience. Speciality aircraft at boogies are good: DC10, Bell helicoper (Police style), Hot Air Balloon plus Otters. There is a bunkhouse, RV hook-up and space for tents as well as affordable Hotels nearby. Packing area is a decent size, there are training and video rooms, mock-ups and good manifest and load organising. Packages can be arranged to go to the wind-tunnel at a special rate with coaching. Excellent RW and free-fly coaching. We're going back again this year (from the UK)!

A DZ can have it all, but if the people are friendly and approachable, that's the clincher for me. The Load Organizers are inclusive and talented. Add to that nice landing areas, spectacular scenery from up high, great weather, safe operations, plus all the amenities and Elsinore is tough to beat. Elsinore simply has the best vibe around! See for yourself.

My 50th birthday gift from my kids (and beneficiaries)--skydiving in Elsinore. Mike, Tim and Chad made this jump a JOY, an honest to God exhilirating experience and I was surprised at how UNafraid I was. When I saw how upbeat and friendly the others jumpers were, I joined in the spirit and was ready to be thrilled as well. What a beautiful place to jump--incredible vistas and a cloudless sunny day. The sharp video and still photos made for mementos that will keep the feeling of JOY fresh every time I see them (so I made my mousepad a photo of my jump!) A great way to clear out the cobwebs of my current existence. Maybe I need to be open to the possibility of being afraid in order to experience a life fully alive. Thank you to the staff of Elsinore. (And thanks for the tee shirt which I will wear with pride.)

I live in Georgia and visited Skydive Elsinore recently. I am a newbie with a Class "A" license and it was the first time to a different drop zone.
The folks at Elsinore were EXTREMELY friendly. Once they determined that I knew what I was doing, they let me jump.
I can't say enough about the helpful attitude of everyone I spoke with. I had a blast jumping from their Twin Otters. The landing area was HUGE. I highly recommend visiting the dz.

Now I don't want to jump anywhere else!

I live in NY and traveled all the way to California for my first jump. I was in the group of 15 that Ricci was in and can second everything that she said in the previous review!

I have been deathly afraid of heights and of falling and jumping my entire life. This was a major feat for me to go on my first skydive. I researched and fretted and found Elsinore to be top notch in safety. Betsy took extra time to talk to me and to make sure that I knew what I was getting into, but to realize that it is the best thing I will ever do. She came and found me afterwards to make sure I was ok. The people at Elsinore are phenomenal. My tandem instructor was knowledgable and attentive as well. I keep watching the DVD and looking at the pictures over and over and over again!

Now that I am back in NY, I am ready to do it again, but I am afraid that my experience with Skydive Elsinore was TOO good and that everywhere else will pale in comparison.

Thank you Skydive Elsinore. You made the first tandem skydive for a very scared person AWESOME!

We had a group of 40 people there with 15 scheduled tandems... of course once the people who had decided not to jump saw the rest of us... they wanted to join in. Betsy took care of us with no problems and James handled the paperwork like a champ!!! Lob was really great at making sure we got up on the same Otter so we got to jump in small groups together. Quite a feat considering we all did tandem with a videot! All this going on the same weekend as a local "xtreme" event was happening too!!! They were simply amazing... the party for the "event" Saturday night welcomed those of us that wanted to stick around the DZ with open arms!!! I'd have to say it was one of the best weekends of my adulthood!

1. Gear
Elsinore had enough gear and a nice variety for the new jumper. While I am unsure of this situation since the fire, they had several PD Navigators to choose from from 220 to 280 on Telesis containers. The rental gear looks well-maintained and I never had a single problem with any of it. Ideal for the new jumper.

2. Landing Area - the student landing area is a new jumper's dream. Covering several acres, it is well maintained and grassy, preventing dust from gathering on gear. It also has a tetrahedron and several flags, making landing directions and patterns easy on the newbie. With over one mile of length of pure open space to the lake, a jumper can land out and not worry about avoiding obstacles - thereby endsuring greater safety.

3. Staff is knowledgeable and always helpful. There seem to be no big egos, and the new jumper can get all questions answered. Elsinore welcomes people it hasn't seen before. Still, they will listen to even a new jumper who sees something they did not.

4. Atmosphere - relaxed and sedated and serious about safety. I never hung out afterwards for the dz parties at night, but nobody openly held that against me.

5. Facilities - Elsinore has a bunkhouse, a snack bar, and seemingly anything a jumper needs, but does not have the exceptional facilities of Perris.

6. In summation, a student would do well to learn at Elsinore. I cannot compare it to other dropzones for a student progression, but as a student it has what you need: friendly and knowledgeable staff, good equipment, great jumpers, and a big forgiving landing area.

Best of all, Elsinore has a great vibe!

Top notch!

They were awesome!! Everyone was really friendly and the facilities were great. My jump instructor made me feel really comfortable and i wasn't nervous at all for my first time. I would really recommend this place. The guy who did took the video and pictures did a fantastic job was extremely friendly.
