As of June 2004: The dropzone is undergoing a number of changes: new facilities are being built, new rental rigs have been purchased recently. While probably the smallest of the three main dropzones in Moscow whereabouts, it has been described as the friendliest one by more than one visiting skydiver. With its two aircrafts, the sleek and comfy L-410 and the fast and bulky An-28, Borki manages up to 25 loads on a busy day, with the average being around 18 in summer. It is hardly a coincidence that the newest canopies on the market are first available in Borki, and only then elsewhere: such was the case with PD Katana, such is the case with Atair Dragon. Coaching is available in any discipline you can think of: RW and freefly go without saying; skysurfing? got it; wingsuits? yessir!; swooping? ooh, we like to swoop; even BASE, if that's your goat - several jumpers are quite experienced in the ways of BASE. And if you have a sudden itching desire to co-pilot a plane or, say, jump a military round canopy, you get it right after you name it. After the jumping day or if the weather decides to be uncooperative, there always is the campfire with frequent barbeques, or paintball, or a nice hot sauna, or just plainly the bar if nothing exciting is going on. The hotel is situated about 300 ft from the manifest which sure helps to be out and about. As you soar through the almost always blue skies, the twisting band of the Volga river combined with the many forests below produces a breathtaking effect. The dropzone is operational every weekend, no matter how bad the weather is; usually the worst months weather-wise are through November to February. This DZ might not be very big, and the mosquitoes sometimes can get real annoying in nil winds, and you may spend whole 20 minutes waiting for the load... but even so, Borki remains a nice place we like to call home.

DZ Borki has started again in October 2006. The ownership and management completely changed while it is still cozy and friendly dropzone. Borki doesn't pretend to be big and famous but today it became safer and more professional. It is only beginning of New Borki but dropzone in growing and developing.

Prices update:
Jump ticket 13500 - 450RUR
Lodging - 240RUR per night

Welcome back!

Really cool DZ, good Aircrafts - L410 & An28(Tail gate - rulezz), a nice place near to Volga river and Hotel just at the LZ - just great (it's so cool just take the canopy on your shoulder after the landing and go to the hotel with shower/cafe and came back on tomorrow after breakfest same way)!

This DZ might not be very big, and the mosquitoes sometimes can get real annoying in nil winds (but talk about packing speed if you do it in the open, hehe), and you may spend whole 20 minutes waiting for the load... but even so, Borki remains a nice place we like to call home.

Unfortunatley - this DZ is closed now. Sometime there is some activity there, but no more this friendly and warm DZ exist. :(((

I spent a great year at DZ Borki, currently jump at US DZs, so let me add my 2 cents: IMHO Borki DZ, the first private DZ in Moscow region, is the most comfortable place for guest jumpers.
Is it an unsafe place?! Andy, forget about "Soviet" times, that is when you always had anybody else responsible for you. When it comes to safety you cannot trust anyone but for yourself. Get grown-up and don't rely on retired paratrooper instructor in worn military clothes to check your CYPRES turned on :-P And what about the skydivers marching in line toward the airplane?
Yes, DZ owner and stuff can do a lot about safety. And so Borki DZ does: there are great airplanes, experienced stuff, friendly attitude, clear rules to follow, equal pricing policy, huge landing field. What else, heh?

I do skydiving here sometime, and I think - it's cool DZ with two L-410 planes. Good people, crazy atmosphere and many other good facilities.
But also I think, that it is unsafe DZ - too many injuries happened at last time here.
So - if you can care about your safety yourself - it may be best DZ in Russia for you.
