My first trip to New Zealand, and it was fantastic. My friend and I were really the only two Americans who attended, and vibe of this boogie is truly outstanding. We were made to feel welcome from the very first email inquiry, and that sense of inclusion didn't end until the boogie was well over. Tight-knit group where most know each other (Kiwis and Aussies), but welcome all. Excellent airfield and landing area, but be careful about the spot and outs! Food was cooked and available onsite, all sorts of lodging types and prices, and the town of Motueko provides entertainment venues and actually very good restaurants.

This is a wonderful boogie, and if money was not factor, I would attend annually. Highly recommended!

Nestled in the sleepy little town of Motueka is one of the best dropzones that New Zealand has to offer.

I've done my AFF with Skydive Able Tasmen, and also took part in this years Good Vibes Boogie (incredible), the staff are so incredibly passionate about what they do and have a wealth of experience to match.
I can't describe how amazing my time in Motueka was, I'm definitly going back and recommend Skydive Able Tasmen to everyone, whether you are a sport jumper or just want to do your first tandem this is the place for you

I can not say enough great things about Skydive Abel Tasman.

I split my AFF training up between here and another great dropzone. From my very first point of contact with Lisa via email, to meeting and greeting the whole crew, right through to jumping with them I was made to feel right at home.

This dz is located in one of the most visually stunning locations in the country where weather is generally amazing. As a student, perhaps the best part about SAT is the GIGANTIC landing zone – its almost impossible to land off.

With a huge focus on sporties they have developed a name as being one of the greatest dz’s for any sportjumper to visit – you’ll never hear a bad word said. Also the home to NZ’s largest boogie ‘Good Vibes’.

Pricing: A+, weather: A+, staff: A+, location: A+. Safety: A+, training: A+. Always try and get back for a few lobs whenever I can.

What are you waiting for?

I did my A license with these guys, they are awesome. The instructors couldnt of done a better job and the ground crew are super cool. The place has a real good vibe.
The views from 13000 feet are ridiculous, you can see mountains and trees and beaches and seas for miles!!

Arrived there in low season, and something is going on about the associations that skydiving in NZ is divided in (concerning foreign licenses). But they allmost immediatley figured that out for me and arranged me to be in as many loads as possible. While business (and passenger-safety) doesn't fit allways with "fun"jumping theese guys still fight for us to fly, appreciate that! (THNX Stew!)

I'm in the middle of doing my AFF Consolidation Jumps for my A licence.

I took 2 days off work to jump at SAT in Motueka.

What and awesome spot, what awesome people, dedicated, friendly, and professional, and above all HELPFUL !!!

The weather was amazing, the scenery also. PLenty of Sporties around to make a fun time.

Cheap and nice Accomodation, and the DZ is close to the centre of town.

The DZSO and Coaching staff were simply awesome. Professional, approachable and positive, they were always quick and willing to help and offer advice.

The staff bent over backwards to help whenever it was needed.

Above all, though, the vibe here in Motueka was simply awesome.

I will be back !!!!

Just begun my AFF course and I would highly recommend Skydive Abel Tasman to absolutely anyone and everyone. The staff are awesome just so relaxed yet professional, they make it hard not to be smiling the entire time. They make such a massive effort to make sure you get up and jump not just pumping through tandems only. The scenery is amazing and the weather beautiful you cant really ask for much more. Make sure you get there and jump you wont be disappointed. LOVED IT!!! cheers

* Friendly, funny and highly competent staff, what else?
* Breathtaking views on the ocean, the snowy mountains and the white sand beaches.
* For tandem skydives, outstanding videos and photos, much better than those I got in my 4 previous tandem experiences. They rock at it!
* Quality instruction, I stayed a month from AFF to B licence.
* Sporties are welcome! - more sunset sport loads please :-)
* Nice relaxed atmosphere
* Comfortable outdoor sofas under the sun, and yes, they are nap friendly!
* Oh, did I mention the super great team?

Arnie

This dropzone became to my new home. I've done my aff here. I spent every single day in my 3 weeks for the A-license here and had in my free time either a cuppa tea, played with the other students with the rugby ball or spent some time with Filo the dog. A little fast food shop is a 5 min walk away. On a bad weather day we watched base jumping videos. Basically we always had something to do.

I highly recommend this dropzone, even if it is just because of the overly friendly staff!!!!

Brilliant DZ, perfect if you want to do your first tandem, your AFF or if you are a sportie. I was travelling around with my gear they have a good rental gear and plenty of people are there to help you if you looking to progress in specific areas. There are a lot of tandems but the manifestors are very proactive in getting sporties on loads. The views are absolutely breath taking. Brilliant DZ highly recommended, I will hopefully make it back to here sometime in the future.

Great people, great views :-)...rivers, beaches, mountains.
Small, friendly DZ, mainly AFF and Tandem but also allow sport jumping which seems to be quite rare in NZ!! Lots of other activities to do close by, kayaking etc.

Well, I did my AFF there, so I can't say I'm a veteran who's visited a huge number of drop zones with which I can compare Abel Tasman. However, I can say that I had so much fun, was made to feel so welcome (despite my having zero experience) and enjoyed such fantastic, professional training as well as lots of helpful, free advice, that I ended up extending my stay as long as I possibly could - I can't imagine there are many better places to lob yourself out of a plane, or many better people to do it with...

I did my AFF in Motueka and I can say that I could not have asked for better more professional people to train me! From the JMs to the packers and coaches everyone was the best at what they do. From RW to free flying and canopy skills they always had new way to challenge me so I was never bored for a second and every jump was something new. The guys in Motueka are great and I really recommend AFF there for who ever is interested

The dropzone is very friendly towards experienced skydivers. The staff are great and make you feel really welcome from the start (and after jumping has finished as well).

The plane is just as good as a porter and the views are great what with the dropzone being on the coast.

Although a lot of tandems go through the place I never had to wait long for a slot and they were proactive on putting me on loads.

I was travelling without my rig and there was no problem hiring gear, alti, dytter etc. I would have liked to hire a smaller main (the smallest they have is a 180) but was happy that they had that.

They also have a wingsuit instructor (Tomas) and I did my first wingsuit jump there. Great! And great views to go along with it as well!

Overall a great place and I recommend it. They need more sporties though to pack out the plane!

I have just completed AFF and A license consolidation at Abel Tasman, and cannot imagine having it any better. The entire staff was friendly and helpful, made me feel like part of the group. Manifest went out of the way to make loads work for whatever sporties were around, (thank you Fi!) and the coaches were always willing to go for a jump, even if I managed to muck up whatever it is I was meant to be doing! can't wait to come back and jump here again. whatever your experience level, this place will fit you in and you will have a good time!
