Fantastic place - friendly & relaxed, yet highly professional. It's a small dropzone which means you are a person, not a number. You know everyone's name & they know you. I've gone from zero to A License in less than 3 weeks, I've got the bug and I'll be back for more! The scenery blows you away you can even see Mount Taranaki!

The guys make you feel really welcome and at home. Its the first dz over here in NZ that has been so welcoming to me as a sporty skydiver. They went out of their way to get me up. Now I am really looking forward to their annual boogie Good Vibes 08!

Blue skies, Happy days and stunning scenery!

I learned to skydive here and I couldn't of asked for a better experience. The AFF instructors were all superb, took their time in explaining things, and were good in their own particular way. The most important thing is they made sure you had fun. I stayed for a while after getting the license and many of the staff were up for having a fun jump with me, although invariably I would make it turn out not so as planned, but it was still fun and I had plenty of laughs all the same, I think they did as well. I also learned a lot from these jumps which I think will help when I go to other dropzones on my travels through Australasia, and then back home in the UK. Laura, and Chris were both great in getting me up and the other students/sporties as much as possible, I can hope it is the same elsewhere, and that it's not just about tandems.

Nice and relaxed dropzone, with a few/many beers at the end of the day, I think the guys liked having the students around for this reason ;)

I spent just over 2 months in New Zealand and visited many of the dropzones. I must say that Abel Tasman has not forgotten what 'fun jumping' is. Most other dz's balk at sportys because our ticket price is not good enough to even consider the financial loss that may occur if they allowed us on a load. Heck some even just jack up the price to $75-$100 for sportys in which case WE have to consider the financial loss.
NOT Abel Tasmen. they were a breath of fresh air. From the first time we set foot on the dz we were treated with hospitality. Not only was the entire staff friendly, but the even wanted to jump with us! Even they're students were cool ;) They also have some kitchen facilities and front porch seating for your typical skydiver shootin the s&*t downtime.. and the after jumping social time ;)
The views are great, mountains and ocean all around. Weather was always nice. Fletcher is quick and seats 10. Hands down best dz in NZ.

Guys, you HAVE to pay these guys a visit. We showed up and they welcomed us in, sorted us out with great rental gear, and made sure we made two back-to-back loads by packing their arses off between the loads. They could have just flown one load with the three tandems they had booked, but there would have been no slots for us. Instead, they made it two loads so we could do 2 jumps each.

Now THAT is what I call friendly to sport jumpers. Oh, and super-nice people. And fantastic views.

This year I new 2 of my mates that did there AFF at Skydive Abel Tasmen. Upon there return they spoke of positve things only. They raved about weather, staff and of course the views.

Later this year I found myself in a situation where I needed to complete the last 8 jumps of my AFF. I choose to go to Skydive Abel Tasmen.

I gotta tella the vibe there is second to none. I was throughly impressed with this DZ.

As a student I appreciated the big landing area, pin checks, and the motivation to work on my necessary skills.

I would recommend this DZ as one of top 3 DZ's in New Zealand to complete your AFF.

Perfect place to end my NZ vacation. Stayed the the Laughing Kiwi(amazing hostel 20 min walk from airport) and couldn't have been happier with my choice. I made my first jump outside my home DZ here and would jump again in a second. Picked me up from Nelson (an hour away) and felt relaxed the second i walked in the door. If i'm ever in NZ again i'll jump with out a doubt. Thanks boys!

Completed my AFF here a few weeks ago. I cannot fault this place. Motueka comes highly recommended by everyone I have talked dropzones with and I was not disappointed when I chose to do my AFF here. The staff are awesome, they are always willing to help you out and encourage you and there is a real feeling that everyone is determined to have fun whilst maintaining a high standard of professionalism. I can't wait to get back to Mot for the boogie in August and see the guys and gals. I will always remember and be stoked about my decision to start off my skydiving career here. See you there!

Fantastic Dropzone. . .not that I have much to compare it too. I did my AFF here planning on leaving as soon as I was done with it. Well, I finished my AFF in three days, and 2 weeks later, I'm still here racking up the consolidation jumps. I have no problems with hanging out in the area! The crew are super nice and welcoming. They were very professional when it came to the AFF course as well. And it is also one of the cheapest places to jump in NZ! So for that, they get a thumbs up!

Keep it up guys!

your rig went one way for checks you went the other to fill in the paperwork and with in minutes you’re in the air looking out at the most beautiful scenery you could wish for.

This is without doubt the most friendly DZ I have ever been to. The guys did all they could to encourage me after returning to the sport offering tuition and ways of imporoving my skydiving. Even though I am relitively inexperienced and was only in the area for a few days I was made to feel totally welcome, unlike many of the other DZ's I have been to (especially in the UK). Equipment hire was also no problem, even lending me a pair of shoes to jump in- and hte plane is nice too. All in all I wish I had longer in Abel as this was the best Skydiving experience I have had since getting my licence...cheers guys!

What a great DZ! Turned up whilst on a skydiving tour of NZ and was immediately made very welcome by the friendly and professional team. A few other sporties were about, so jumped with them, fantastic scenery, great rates (and cheap, good local accom). Micro-climate means lots of good weather, with fantastic views, regular lifts and great efforts by Stewart and his team to get me in the air as much as I wanted.

Thanks a million guys!!

Great DZ. Did my AFF here, great instructors, strong focus on safety, good teaching techniques, lots of positive feedback (and negative when desired). Fletcher is great way to ride, large packing area. Recommended!!!

I could have stayed here for a week - wait...I DID! Maybe two weeks then? For someone with low jumps this place was the ultimate experience - my skill level had doubled by the time I left here. The people are all so friendly and helpful! I'm so glad I managed to get every jump on video - some of those moments are completely unforgettable! =) Hope you guys haven't given up on the fun jumps - you were just starting to get the hang of it... =P This dz is just unbelievable, the plane - WOW...I really like 14 grand and at that speed, the landing area - even more WOW...a whole airfield?? I thought they were kidding to start with! =) I will definitely make it back for Good Vibes one year...

It was an absolute pleasure to jump at this beautiful and friendly dropzone.

The staff was extremely friendly, professional and helpful. This is a dropzone where you just would like to hang out at. Unfortunately we had to leave this great place to continue our NZ-trip. The view with mountains and the sea is amazing.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Skydive Abel Tasman and would highly recommend it to anyone!

Thanks a lot for a great but a far too short time

P.s. Thank you Thomas for the tip with Fox Glacier :o)

This was by far the best DZ I visited in New Zealand. Most DZ's in NZ are tandem factories but these fellas made me feel right at home. The scenery is INCREDIBLE!!!

Thanks again mates!

This is THE drop zone for skydivers in the South Island. Period.
Staff is more than friendly and ready to greet visitors (on the very first jump I found a buddy to skydive with);
The landing area is huge enough for a blind skydiver to make it easily;
Facilities are very clean, useful, comfy and looks like a professionnal place;
Scenery is to South Island standards: gorgeous.
To summarize: go there!

I chose to learn to skydive here through the AFF course because I was in the area and was so glad that I was.

All the staff are friendly, especially all of the jump masters and tandom masters. Everybody was more than helpful when help was required and everyone seems just as excited to have a new person starting up the sport as I was myself in learning. Everyone seems to want to pass on their knowledge as much as possible, including the packers who started to teach me how to pack.

The location is perfect, with awesome views of the Able Tasman Park and local area and also on clear days (which luckly I had) you can even see some of the mountains on the North Island.

I will definatly be returning at some point to do some jumps and hopefully show all the guys there how well I'm getting on now that I've completed the AFF course - cheers guys for an awesome five days!
