The crew made me feel very safe, explained things in detail so I knew exactly what to expect. The vibe was amazing, they make it super chilled and fun.

I would definitely do it again and highly recommend them.

I' recently moved to Cozumel, Mexico, therefore, when I see that the dropzone is owned by Skydivemex, who organize the Pachangon Boogie every year, included last year in Playa, and they have a fast Caravan with 900hp. I called them to jump, the answer was: this company do only tandem, because of the limited landing area. I replied: why you don't say it on your website and facebook page as well? Why making people wasting time to contact you? The operator reply if you like I' will tell to the web manager. My reply: do whatever you want, for sure my friends here, they won't come to make their first tandem there. I'm heading to the only real dropzone in Mexico: Skudive Cuatla, where I've already jump, in Puerto Escondido last year. Don't waste you time with them, if any dropzone want make tandem only, just say it, like in Key West, Florida. That's it.

When I decided to do a search for skydiving in Playa Del Carmen on Google i was already a bit apprehensive about sky diving, let alone in Mexico, but I have to say everyone at the team at Skydive Playa was fantatsic. I'm a first time jumper and felt very safe and I couldn't have imagined a better experienced skydiving in Playa del Carmen than I had. I even wrote about it on my blog and you can see the really nice video I got made of me jumping: http://www.theworldorbust.com/getting-over-my-fear-of-heights-skydiving-in-playa-del-carmen-video/

While looking for a place to jump while visiting Mexico. I emailed the DZ asking to hop on a load and make a jump. Having 3000+ jumps, experience wouldn't be a problem. However, I received an email saying "No, we only do Tandems" No up jumpers! UGH!! Don't take your rig...

I was there almost two years ago now and I STILL remember the wonderful views of the Gulf and of Cozumel. Flying over the beach was a kick too. It's a small DZ so you can't just walk up and manifest but the DZO is great and an all around nice guy. The jump numbers required have changed since I went but if your a "D" License holder it's worth taking your rig.

With regret i bring this story to you, unfortunately i can not fill in the fields above correctly as i never even got to the DZ so i have given a 3 for all fields.
Before i left the UK i emailed the DZ more than once to check if i would be able to do a solo jump there as well as take my girlfriend for here first tandem.
I sent my stats. Jump No etc and this was my response
'Hello
We do not rent gear and ask for a valid license minimum of 100 skydives and that you are current
Thanks again,
Michel'

when i got to Mexico i got a rep to give the DZ a call for me to explain what my intensions were and if there was an english speaking person i could speak to .
there was so i explained myself that i had emailed and wanted to travel to the DZ to jump, now i'm not daft but the guy on the end of the phone did not seem interested in me solo jumping and went into sales mode for the tandem, explaining haw a tandem skydive went free fall, parachute, big smile etc.
Now as a skydiver i think i already should know this so again i pressed i wanted to solo jump and got this response
Do you have a rig? Yes
Do you have your licence? Yes
Do you have your log book? Yes
Have you got 200 jumps? WHAT! You said 100 on your email.
So that was that, after re explaining i had pre planed this with the DZ i still got the same response. Not 200 jumps no jump.
The reason given for this was that it was not a very big drop zone, that i can understand, safety is at the for front of our sport but i had paid £64.00 in excess baggage charges to get my kit there after first making shore i could jump.
Well i can't give a view on the DZ or the facility’s as i never even got there.
This is just a heads up to anyone thinking of jumping here.
I was badly treated and conducted myself and the way i arranged to jump there correctly.
Needless to say i did not take my girlfriend there for a tandem.
Hardly surprising is it!

Thinking of going to Mexico / Cancun?
Go, it’s a wonderful place and i will be returning.

It IS a tandem factory, but it's not their fault. With no up-jumpers to speak of in that part of the country, they have to cater to tandems to stay in buisness. I arrived at 11:00 local time, and waited for a tandem to show so that we could get a load up. By 4:30 we were sure the tandem appointment was a no show. So the DZO strapped on his rig, and with a camera flyer paying a slot, we were able to make a load. They did this due to the fact I'd been sitting around all day, and they either broke even, or lost money on that load. It worked out to be one of the most beautiful jumps I have ever made--a fun freefly with the DZO, Mitchelle, and a flight over perfect azul waters. If you go--be patient, and I guarantee a fantastic expierence.

My experience last weekend at Skydive Cancun will be one of the most memorable times of my 4000+ jumps. I met two jumpers in the lobby of my hotel in Cancun, Mason and Adam. Adam was fluent in spanish and spoke to Vincent from the DZ. We were told that tandems were a priority. You show me a DZ where that isn't the case and I will show you midget playing in the NBA. We decided to take our chances and boy were we rewarded. The town of Playa de Carmen was the "real Mexico" beautifull. On the way to the plane we past ruins that were thousands of years old. Sunset load at 10k ft over the most beautiful blue ocean with white puffy clouds out of a comfortable c-182, really it was, Priceless. I absolutely love the wrestling matt inside the plane. We bought the load for $120 US. best $40 bucks I spent on the trip. Landed on the softest beach in front of a large bar to the applause of the patrons. We were picked up in a spacious van back to the shop. While we packed Michel grabbed us some beers. Walked next door to Senor Frogs for dinner. Awesome. I recommend this dz. You are going to take your chances with the tandems but hell, we take our chances with weather. If you can't stand waiting for a weather hold to clear you shouldn't be skydiving. thousands of miles for one jump like we had was a blessing from God. The more skydivers you bring the better chance to send the plane. Invite some travel companions or the girl you meet at the bar the night before. Be Sure to call first,be polite, and tip well. Thanks to boyz of Skydive Cancun. They haven't seen the last of me. I am still buzzing from the experience. Peace and Love.

i just came back from a trip to mexico. before i started, i wrote the guys of skydive playa, if it is possible to make some jumps as a solo skydiver. the answer was, that they are a full service dropzone and i have to bring my own rig. when i was there the guys where kind of nice but not interested in taking up solo jumpers. in fact, skydive playa is a tandem factory and that for i can recommend it. i just ask myself, if these guys would have become professional skydivers, when other dropzones said "this is not convenient for us"?! I just returned from a trip to mexico. After the decription, the DZ Cancun/Skydive Playa seemed worth to take gear with me. the fact is that the operatos of the DZ are just interested in Tandems and NOT interested in people who come for jumping solo there. So if you don't want to wait all day(s) long to catch a slot, it might be a better decision to go to another DZ. andi

The blue sky, carribean ocean, big puffy clouds, sandy beach landing and not only that the people are great!
Very professional, and I always felt welcome. Don't go to playa without you rig, your won't reget the experience.
