Irish Parachute Club

The IPC has the biggest planes, the best facilities and the best vibe out of any DZ in Ireland. It's also the only DZ that really caters for fun jumpers. It has the largest community and jumpers of all levels so finding jumpers at the same level as you is easy.

The Wingsuit, Freefly and 4 Way disciplines are really well catered for and everyone is willing to help you learn. The load organizers (Tony, Conor, Ronan etc.) do an awful lot for the club and since I started jumping here have seen a remarkable improvement in the skill levels and sense of community as a result.

I didn't learn to skydive at this DZ but it is now my new home DZ.

This is also the only DZ in Ireland (apart from the Geese) that isn't just a shed in a field. They give equal preference to fun jumpers and tandems.

If you visit Ireland or are doing your first skydive, this is the place to be.

Just got my A licence from this club via the AFF route. This is a fantastic parachute club. It is located about an hour from Dublin, very convenient. The instructors are very friendly and cannot do enough for you. The facilities are great as is the Porter. If you are trying to decide which club to go for head to the IPC. You won't regret it.

They were happy to take the money but not so keen to get me up. The course,such as it was, was totally disorganised with no one having a clue what was going on. Their manifest system was a shambles. Nobody had the remotest idea of a weather forecast.

It was a 3 to 4 hour drive for me to get there and to sit around all day with not the slightest idea whether I was going to jump or not,despite good weather, was soul destroying. And as for the grumpy woman at the manifest desk!!

As a student avoid the place, the weather is too unreliable to waste your money. Go to Spain.

Learnt to jump abroad and live abroad so have only been to Irish Parachute club a few times. Its a rocking place with a great vibe, cool/mad people and loads of people to jump with along with really experienced guys who will help you out any time. The weather can suck at times but they go when there is any opportunity, if you are in Ireland go for a jump, the Irish parachute club rocks!

From the minute I got there I felt welcomed. The instructors there were very helpful, professional and always kept me Informed of what was going on. Also, The vibe there was awesome, people are very friendly and there's always someone to jump with. This is a DZ I recommend if you are in the area and definitely would consider going back.

hi folks, I did my first jump this month in the ipc. I've been reading other reviews, ok the lady at the desk was a bit of a crank, but you get the in every walk of life, don't let it bother me I tell ya, I loved the hole laid back feeling I got the minute I arrived at the ipc, for me doing my first jump I no it helped rather than every thing being serious and underlined, ok I am jumping out of a plane but as long as the parachute opens I'm happy, found all the lads great, had a good laugh with them, ill defo be going back there soon, thanks to all at the lads at the ipc for helping me to do the best thing I've ever done in my life:) :)

Recently finished my AFF. I did my first jumps in New Zealand and immediately felt at home in the IPC. The majority of the skydivers are really friendly and will chat to you for ages and offer great advice. Most of the AFF Instructors are really experienced, patient and constructive and interested in getting you jumping on your own rather than just a paycheck. I'd really recommend the IPC and am looking forward to getting lots more jumps in over the next few years.

I started an AFF course at the IPC and did not finish it. I actually stayed on the DZ for a weekend and only got to jump once on the last load of the second day.

The manifest is terrible, and the woman who runs it is very rude and not helpful at all.

There is an uncomfortable atmosphere at the IPC for anyone who is not a member, not a friendly atmosphere at all.

Some instructors insist scaring the crap out of you in order to get you to go through the right procedures which nearly put me off the sport altogether.

I can't tar all the people at the IPC with the same brush as there are a small few people up there who are very nice... a small few.

I jumped there for the first time this weekend I have to say I found it great on the whole, I'm not a massively experienced skydiver by any means, with only 50 odd jumps, but I liked it anyway, have to agree with other comments made about the very rude and unfriendly woman on manifest. I found the rest of the staff I dealt with great though, helpful and up for the laugh. There's a bit of waiting around between jumps alright, but with the Irish weather as it is that's to be expected. I'll definitely be going back there

Manifest are very rude. If you are prepared to wait all day for one or two jumps then this is the place for you.

As a native Irish Man I think it’s unfortunate that I find my self writing a bad review for this DZ.

As I arrived to do my level 1 AFF training I arrived in a room with at least 8 other people all eager to learn the ‘ropes’. Because of the number of people present the instructor was unable to give each individual the training that they needed. I felt that the whole day’s training was rushed e.g. for the dive sequence each person got down on the ground (one at a time) and quickly went through the sequence. As for the landing we were told to ‘flare at 10 feet’ when I asked “How will I know I’m at 10 feet?”, “What happens it I flare too early?” The instructor replied “Just put your knees/feet together if you think it’ll be a rough landing!”

When we finished the training in the evening we were told to put our names down on the manifest to get our place on the next aircraft. I thought this was crazy. Did they not forsee 9 students (and 18 instructors) needing to jump at approx 18:00 that day? The extremely ignorant and rude Manifest lady told me that “You’re not gonna get a place today so don’t bother coming up to this window again!”

I went back to next day and got the same gruff response from the same lady. After 6 hours of hanging around the DZ I eventually got on the (last) drop of the day. The instructors that I got were OK, but lacked that professional touch. Exit, dive sequence and pull went OK. But when I came into land there was silence on my radio! The guy eventually gave me some directional advice (as I started to stray close to a fence). At 25 feet I flared and the guy just screamed “PUT YOUR FEET TOGETHER!!” I released my risers and almost buried myself into the ground!

Over the next few months I went down to the DZ on 4 separate occasions to complete my AFF course, but unfortunately, I never got to jump again. As soon as I mentioned to the (rude) manifest lady the I was an AFF student, She just didn’t want to know about me. A bus load of tandem jumpers would arrive and they would be pushed to the top of the queue. Also, there were times when the instructors would be hanging around on the sofas not interested in taking me up, they seemed too interested in chatting to their friends.

In summary, this DZ feels like a private club. The instructors could not be bothered with students at all as they just want to improve their own skills. The other staff where wholly unfriendly and had an awful ignorant attitude towards anybody that they didn’t personally know.

Avoid this DZ if at all possible.

This being my first time to Ireland I had to have a taste of some good ol’ Irish fun so I had to go visit the IPC. I drove there from the Dublin airport and it took my a bit over an hour to get there. I will highly recommend renting a talking GPS unit from the rental car place to make your life a lot easier. I don’t think I could have found it just using a map, they did however give me good directions when I requested them by email.
Once I arrived I received a warm welcome by the staff, got my rig inspected and manifested. Even though it rains a lot, they don’t hesitate to get a load up in between rain showers.
The food and facilities were phenomenal and the vive was pretty good too.
If you are planning on visiting Ireland and want to get some jumping done don’t hesitate to visit this place. They are a bunch of crazy funny people there, go check them out. I will certainly go back someday.

If you don't go you will be missing out in the best DZ in the world. If your not skydiving you will be crying in laughter from one of the great stories. They have a great say "My drinking club has a skydiving problem" and they live up to the name! great place to meet new friends. It's the only DZ in Ireland that has turbine aircraft and they go to 14k on every load. Blue Skies to everyone

I concur with Dutchboy...this is a great dropzone, sheep and all. Just don't get too freindly with the sheep.

Comming from California, and having an Irish background, I felt like I was home.

On your next trip to Ireland, check this place out.

By the way...when landing...watch out for the sheep shit, It's slippery, I still have stains.

Wow, what a blast. I was travelling to Dublin on business, so naturally I had to get some skydiving in while I was overseas. I sent an e-mail asking a few questions which was promptly answered. I even had several offers for a lift from Dublin.

This DZ boasts the only sheep in the world that look up, because they have to. There are sheep in the landing area. Watching them scatter as you land is hilarious.

The members of this club are extremely friendly. I think I had as much fun just hanging out at the DZ and later the local pub as I did actually skydiving.

The club has a 206 which takes 5 jumpers to 10k in a reasonable amount of time. They also have a 182 they use mostly for students.

The view from altitude is quite beautiful. The landing area is sizeable. They have a store, and a canteen at the DZ. Camping and showers are available. There are several bed and breakfasts nearby for IEP 15/night. They have a ton of equipment for students/members and are happy to sort you out if you didn't bring all your own gear. They also seem to be very safety oriented.

I would suggest that no visit to Ireland is complete without a stop at IPC.
