OJB para were helpful and efficient to this Irish Jumper.
Jumping over the bay of Biscay is breathtaking and everyone was very helpful to me, a Novice A licence Jumper.
Everything flight side is ran like clockwork by the owner OJB.
All staff spoke good English.

If you are on holiday in the area is an Ideal place to squeeze in a jump or two.

Very nice dropzone with nice atmosphere, nice view, nice staff, easy landing area, and close to the beach (by car) to chill or have fun in the waves when you don't have enough money to jump all day long! :)

I am not a 'Skygod' but I have enjoyed travelling throughout most of France, Spain, Italy and America taking in DZ's wherever I can. OJB's DZ nr Mimizan was recommended to me by a French friend who said "....you haven't heard of OJB.....?" I don't think he believed me when I said I didn't know the DZ or the character that is OJB.

I live in Jersey and normally drive to Mimizan a few times each year and I think it is a real privilege to jump at a DZ with such history behind it. OJB is a great character and has (apparently) had some form of DZ running there for 42 years. Recently he has invested significant money in new showers and this year he has rented out the restaurant to a couple from The Alps who do a great job of feeding the masses.

The drop zone is friendly. It requires some effort to find it, which I think helps keep it feeling special. The Pilatus is immaculate and the relaxed atmosphere belies OJB's all-seeing eyes and professionalism.

I particularly like that after about 10 trips to Mimizan I have only seen one other Brit there.

If you want a really 'rock'n'roll' DZ then perhaps this is a bit quiet, but it has a good atmosphere and the weekly BBQ part on Saturday nights are good fun. The other reviews on here seem a bit out of date as much of the place has been updated.

If you have the chance to venture to Mimizan then it is worth the effort. You won't be disappointed!

A great place to jump, with OJB (the inventor of chute assis) always there to help, give advice and organize loads. Super staff with 100% dedication to skydivers. I only recently discovered Mimizan but since then I returned to Mimizan many times, although I live 150km from there and I have a DZ at my doorstep in my hometown (Royan)! Incredible view over the atlantic coast as you jump and good geography so that it is easy to find your bearings when you have lost it during a jump! They say the dorm will be improved in 2006. That would make it an A++ DZ!

New camping and restaurant with new young staff (jumpers) realy cool. Everithing is clean. During jump you can see ocean, lake and montain.

I went there last summer for one week. It was not as good as I thaught.
I found the price for the "bedroom" (11€/night) under a tent expensive, considering that there were just two showers and two WC (dirty...) for somethnig like 50 or 60 persons... no water pressure on the shower, if someone pull the chain you just have to wait with the shampoo in your eyes ! The lunch/dinner are also quiet expensive : 10€ for french-fries, chicken nuggets and a part of tart.
Won't be a problem if the people were as cool as it seems. In fact sharp remarks because you prefer to cook by yourself or if you make a remark about the arrangements.... and every occasion is good to criticize other dropzones.
I wont get back there, prefer to go in dropzones where welcomed people is more important than making money at any price..

I started there in 1999 on static line when it was just a couple of prefab building and single operated by already OJB and zaza !

It went on developping and trust me when I say this place feels like home every time I got the chance to go there !

In summer there is lots to be done, loads organising are qualitative with international class coaches. definitely the place to go if you are not far !

This is the best DZ I went to in France.

The DZ is located 10 km from the ocean, and the nearby
town is pretty crowded in the summertime.
Lots of bars around and a casino

The DZ is pretty cool. The camping site is cheap
(2 euro/night).

Best to go during the summertime since a bigger plane
is rented (a twin otter in 2002).

Having a Twin and a Pilatus allow you not to wait long
between two jumps. You can easily do 10 jumps a day if
you wish to.

Atmosphere is really friendly and the bar prices are
fairly cheap (3 euros for a full breakfeast, 1.5 euros
a beer).

Special parties are held everyday during summer.

Prices this year were: 21 euros/jump for 4200 m
