Position Summary

Para Gear seeks an FAA Senior Parachute Rigger to join our team in Skokie, Illinois. The ideal candidate will be familiar with both sport skydiving equipment and pilot emergency parachutes. They will be proficient in packing squares and rounds, and comfortable with equipment maintenance and repairs as allowed by their FAA certificate. The role also involves fabrication of several inventory items, as well as support of sales operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Pack and maintain pilot emergency parachutes and skydiving equipment per FAA regulations.
  2. Production of items in the Para Gear catalog, including but not limited to rigging tools, packing mats, closing loops and hook knife pouches.
  3. Interact with customers in person, by phone and via email.
  4. Support sales operations as needed.

Education and Experience Requirements

  •           High School diploma or equivalent required. Some college preferred.
  •           FAA senior rigger certificate, back type required, with at least 50 logged pack jobs.
  •           Experience working in a rigging loft preferred but not necessary.
  •           Active Skydiver strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of best practices and industry norms regarding parachute care and maintenance.
  • Ability to locate and correctly apply new information (i.e. applicable Service Bulletins).
  • Ability to successfully operate industrial sewing machines and related equipment.
  • Ability to self-direct and work independently within a team environment.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office.
  • Must possess excellent verbal communication skills. Foreign language fluency a plus.
  • Must be able to organize work in a time-effective manner.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work well with diverse personalities.
