Jumpshack SST with Pullout

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Jumpshack SST with Pullout

Originally, my Jumpshack SST (now knowns as Racers) came with a main ripcord, and the container itself was sized to fit a Paraflite Stratostar (although I would stuff in a 28' 7TU instead). Later, I had the container shortened to accomodate my Paradactyl, along with replacing the main ripcord with a pullout pilotchute. Photo taken over Raeford NC by either Mike Morauske or Phil Rogge, sometime in the late 1970's.

ECU Homecoming Stadium Jump - landing

Average Rating = 0.00/5 ECU Homecoming Stadium Jump - landing

"Touchdown" into ECU's Homecoming Game - Greenville NC, on October 30, 1976. Since I had to make a quick 180 just before landing, a stand-up was out of the question. It may be hard to relate to in this day and age, but I borrowed this canopy from a friend of mine for this skydive; I was currently jumping a 28' 7TU (shortlined) at the time. (Photo by: Unknown)

ECU Homecoming Stadium Jump (another angle)

Average Rating = 0.00/5 ECU Homecoming Stadium Jump (another angle)

Just before landing into ECU's Homecoming Game - Greenville NC, on October 30, 1976. I had the Kappa Alpha Frat Flag attached to my ankle, but when I released it after opening, the flag itself was all wadded up like a ball of crap. Since I had other things on my mind of more importance (like landing on the playing field under a round (21' Piglett II) canopy, I decided to just ignore that part of my task. It may be hard to relate to in this day and age, but I borrowed this canopy from a friend of mine for this skydive; I was currently jumping a 28' 7TU (shortlined) at the time. (Photo by: Unknown)

First Canopy (modified)

Average Rating = 0.00/5 First Canopy (modified)

This rag started off as a 28' 7TU modified Air Force reserve parachute used as my main canopy; the first parachute that I ever owned. I ended up shortlining the suspension lines by 6 feet, while also gutting the sections of suspension line that ran through the canopy itself. This made my stuff job into my Jumpshack SST much easier. Circa 1978

Another jump of the Cubic Corps PC. About to do a PLF. This was at Blue Skies in Bremerton Wa, (the first person to jump a round canopy at that dropzone!). This was 2005.

This is me "Maggott" when I owned the Cubic Corps canopy (shown in other photos). Hoping to find out the story behind this canopy... I have no idea... made a few jumps on it and then sold it.

ECU Homecoming Stadium Jump

Average Rating = 0.00/5 ECU Homecoming Stadium Jump

Final approach (if you can call it that) into ECU's Homecoming Game - Greenville NC, on October 30, 1976. Five total skydivers - 1 Paraplane, 2 Stratostars, Piglet 23, and a Piglet II (me). It may be hard to relate to in this day and age, but I borrowed this canopy from a friend of mine for this skydive; I was currently jumping a 28' 7TU (shortlined) at the time.

Stress Situation?

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Stress Situation?

This advertisement appeared in the August 1980 edition of Apparel Industry Magazine. The photo itself actually shows the result of a blown 4-way exit over Raeford, NC, but the composition did make for a good ad background. Ed Christy - upper right, Dave Mangis - lower right, Mike Griggs - lower left, me - upper left.

Paradactyl accuracy

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Paradactyl accuracy

Shooting accuracy on the wind dummy load, Saturday, June 3, 1978, at the Carolina Sport Parachute Council Meet in Barnwell, SC. I nailed the disk on this jump, but I was so cocky trying to duplicate my feat the next morning that I ended up collapsing my canopy and breaking my wrist.
