Skydiving has gone to the DogsPosted Saturday, June 30, 2001 By Keith Laub On Thursday June 21st from 7:48 AM to 7:35 PM, Dale Settle set a new Oklahoma Skydiving State Record of 64 skydives in 12 hours. The jumps were made at 2500 feet out of a single Cessna 182. All proceeds from this event went to the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF).
The team was able to raise more than $2500 for ARF through individual, corporate and merchandising sales. Other donations included $25.00 for observation rides or jumps with Dale during the event. The final jump was open for bid with the highest bid at $150.00. The last load went to 5,000 feet and Dale jumped the American flag.
The Animal Rescue Foundation awarded Dale the "Order of the Red Paw." The event took place at Skydive Tulsa and was covered by all of the local news stations in Oklahoma. The previous Oklahoma State Record of 50 jumps in twelve hours was set by Lew Watson on June 15th, 1969 for his fiftieth birthday.
