Large Formation Training Camp

Posted Sunday, March 11, 2001

Tony Domenico, a recognized big-way expert and Dan Brodsky-Chenfeld of Arizona Airspeed are teaming up to organize a Large Formation Training Camp at Skydive Arizona. The event will take place on May 17-20, 2001. The objective is for participants to learn and tone the skills necessary to do 100+ way formations in a fun, safe and controlled environment.

Who is invited: Open invitation for jumpers wanting to learn how to do large formations, or for the more experienced jumpers a chance to practice and improve your skills. These large formation skills include: diving, floating, docking, tracking, and base work. We will practice the skills necessary in smaller size groups, 16 to 20 ways, and then combine groups to form larger groups. This is a great opportunity to be seen and get to know some of the top organizers in the world (and a chance to get on future World Records).

Minimum requirement to sign up: 200 relative work jumps in the last 2 years, have been in at least a 12 way, and docked 8th or later. (not sure if you qualify, e-mail us) We only have a limited amount of slots, please sign up soon.

Goals

  • Have Fun!
  • Learning and toning the skills necessary to do 100+ way formations in a fun, safe and controlled environment

Our Plan

Day 1, and day 2: Participants will be broken into 16 to 20 way groups, we will practice basic large formation skills, using video and video debriefs (we will also do sequential). Five jumps each day from 13,000 ft.
Day 3 and day 4: We will combine the smaller groups to form larger groups (20 to 60 ways). We will do formation loads for groups larger then 22 ways. Five jumps a day from 15,000 ft with O2. This event will consist of 20 jumps, plan on 5 jumps per day, if we are moving right along we may get in a 6th jump each day, and be able to finish early on the last day. We will finish the last dive on Sunday by 6PM, so make your plans accordingly.

We will be going to 15,000 ft with O2 for all formation loads. We will be using a combination of Super Otters and a Skyvan. As always with our events Safety will be our number one goal!

Questions

Q: Can I come for just part of the event?
A: First priority will be given to jumpers who can come for the entire event! We will work others in as we need you.

Q: Can I leave early?
A: Again first priority will be given to jumpers who can come for the entire event! We will work others in as we need you.

Q: Can I leave early on Sunday to catch my flight out?
A: Well this is the problem, if only a few good people leave early, those who leave are screwing all your friends and buddies! If you leave early we will keep your remaining funds and try to find good people to fill your slots. So please try not to.

Q: Should I bring extra jump suits and weights?
A: always be prepared for anything, I would bring a good range of suits and extra weights if you wear weights.

Q: Can I get cut?
A: Since this is a training camp we try hard to not cut anyone, the only reason we would ask anyone to sit down is for doing something that we consider dangerous to themselves or others.

Q: If I get ask to sit down will I get refunded for the jumps I did not make?
A: If you sit out gracefully, you will get a refund.

Q: Can I get someone else on?
A: Yes if they meet the minimum experience required.

Q: How do I commit?
A: Send your deposit check and registration form today!!!

Q: If you get my deposit check am I guaranteed a slot?
A: Yes if you have the minimum experience required.
