Latin American Championships of Formation Skydiving

From 21st to 23rd November took part in Tobati 10.5 miles from the Capital of Paraguay the X Latin American Championship of Formation Skydiving.

Paraguay was host after 20 years, this event was organized by the Latin American Federation of Skydiving and Sport Parachuting Association of Paraguay (APPD), and this competition, was declared of national interest by the National Secretariat of Tourism (Senatur). The teams participating in the 4-way event were: Outlet XP (Brazil); Equipo Chile (Chile); Falc§es (Brazil); Harpias (Brazil); Venom (Paraguay) and Influenza (Argentina). All teams performed 8 rounds; jumps were done from a Cessna Caravan at 11,000 feet.

During the week of the competition people were afraid about weather because was raining and cloudy, but magically, the day before the event starts weather dis his part and train jumps were done, there were people smiling, packing, and training, that┤s means X Latin American Championship of Formation Skydiving officially started.

The final score was: Outlet XP 101; Falc§es 75; Influenza 67. Additionally, the Brazilian women's team Harpias won the FairPlay Trophy, awarded based on the votes of the judges and all competitors.

President of Sport Parachuting Association of Paraguay remarks that the objective these kinds of events, is to encourage the athletes to improve their competitive level and raise the level of the sport in South America. He also said that competition leaves an important legacy to the national sport which athletes have an opportunity to develop his skills. The jury was composed of representatives from Paraguay, Chile, Argentina and Peru. The Championship ended with the awards ceremony and a traditional Paraguayan barbecue where everybody share anecdotes, laughs, and experiences and a closing championship video.

Really enjoyed this article and the videos. It's awesome to see how far the sport has gone world wide. When I retire I'd love to go on a tour of DZs around the world.
