Chicks Rock! BoogiePosted Wednesday, September 26, 2001 By Regina McGowan I am sure you have all heard about Skydive Elsinore's 1st Annual Skydiving Chicks Rock Boogie, but because of recent tragic events, most of our normal routines have been diverted and our lives greatly effected. The people responsible for this travesty would have Americans live in fear of their daily lives, of fellow Americans, of our own neighbors, but it is in times like these that we must band together as a people, as a community, and fly with each other as we always have. Elsinore's Chick Boogie gives us a chance to unite, as women in the skydiving community, to have fun and symbolize a collective strength through our individualized expressions of freedom.
In case there are still some of you out there that have not heard, the dates for the boogie were changed a while ago to the 13th and 14th of October. I apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused, but I was not informed until later that there was another event scheduled for the same weekend, so I decided that this Chick Boogie deserves its own weekend to rage!
So here we are, a little less than a month away and ready to rock! The DZ is buzzing as we all work together to get things set-up for this event. I have had a tremendous response already for the Boogie from all over the world. All skill levels are getting involved and we have even set-up a package deal for those girls wanting to do their first tandem skydive. It's the same package deal, but instead of 10 jumps, you get a tandem jump ticket. What a deal!
Our Chick Boogie, which was originally intended to be more of a local thing, has evolved and grown into an enormous event that has received world-wide interest from both jumpers and sponsors. I have received confirmations from many sponsors that they are on board in support of the Chick Boogie. Go Fast! Has joined forces with us to help provide us with the t-shirts that are given out as a part of our package deal. They are also going to make a presence at the Boogie and supply us with some more fun stuff. Other sponsors such as Infinity, Bonehead, DaKine, Firefly, ProDytter/ProTrack, and Gatorz, to name a few, are showing their support by donating prizes that will be raffled off at the Boogie.
The DJ's are lined up and ready to spin at the party Saturday night. We also have a special night demonstration set-up for that evening that is going to be both exciting and thrilling for everyone to watch. This event is going to be GREAT!!! All you girlz who are as excited as me, LET ME KNOW! E-mail me with questions, comments, and to obtain the registration form for the Chick Boogie. For all those girls that pre-register before September 30th, they save the $25 registration fee that is applicable to all sign-ups thereafter. COME ON GIRLZ…LET'S GET READY TO ROCK!!!
