CF Spektakel - Teuge, HollandPosted Friday, August 3, 2001 By Yvette TEUGE, HOLLAND - 3 Swedish CReW jumpers (Yvette, Lars-Magnus, Björn, SF) went to Teuge, Holland to participate in the CF Spektakel camp 7-15th July. With many of the best european coaches such as Marc Calluy (Belgium), Eric Schimmel, Roel Roeloffzen, Eric Stolk (Holland), Gauda Buss (Germany) and more, it should have been an educational week for us. Unfortunately the weather wasn't on our side - in fact the weather sucked! That's not all - the airplane (Cessna Grand Caravan) didn't want to start after one of the weather breaks, so for a couple of days all we had was a C-206, around 40 CF jumpers sharing with tandems and students who also were jumping as usual…
Apart from this it was a wonderful week! The participants included people from Holland, Belgium, Germany, England, Sweden and as far away as South Africa. Beginners jumped one on one with experienced CReW coaches. The check-in fee was 23 Euros for those of us who had our own CF equipment, and 69 Euros for those who had to borrow canopies. This included camping and also included a BBQ on the last Saturday night. A jump cost 14 Euros for 9000 ft. Video/coach jumps were extra. Much more expensive than in Sweden, but worth it! De Wolk (Teuge's café/restaurant/bar) was also good, nice staff, good beer and good food at reasonable prices, what more can you ask for!
Another thing worth mentioning is The Parachute Case - the largest loft I've ever seen = a whole hangar! It connected to the jumpshop and the owner/manager Kees Tops was also an amazing CReW jumper - but then again everyone in Holland seems to be CReW professionals!
The bad weather led to visits to the swimming baths (dangerous 7-ways down the waterslides!), bowling, go-cart, minigolf, museums, etc. and of course lots of beer! (although we would have drunk lots of beer with blue skies too!)
Only one reserve was pulled during the week, and that was a canopy that ripped after deployment. The only injuries were from the waterslides (since a 7-way gains more speed than a lone person we always slammed into the tunnel wall before exiting into the pool - ow!)
On the Sunday the CF week ended with some good jumps: including a 9-way diamond (congratulations to Sharky (South Africa), Aron and Dane (England), and also congratulations to Dorothee (Germany) who after making her first ever CF jump at the beginning of the week topped it off with doing 6 points on a 4-way sequential! Cool!
All in all a good week, not enough skydives, but a whole lot of new friends and experiences…
