Item: Tempo
Manufacturer: PISA   (1425 Hits)

Description:
The TEMPO Range of Reserves are a Traditional 7 cell design canopy incorporating 0-3 CFM fabric and microline. TEMPO Reserves are manufactured with a unique fabric. A fabric which is woven with the finest microfilament yarns available BUT more yarns per square inch than any other 0-3 CFM fabric. The fabric is also finished with a very light silicon coating and "calendered" (Heat + Pressure) applied. The result of such weaving and finishing is a parachute canopy with the highest tensile / tear strength properties internationally, coupled with the smallest pack volume of any parachute fabric available. Further, TEMPO Reserves actually perform when flying and flare beautifully on landing.

Its a reserve
Rated by: tonka (more about me) on 2007-03-20 00:00:00 (user reviews) Review ID:1768

Pros: Great opening, response, and flare!
Cons: None

Had a terminal opening on a Tempo loaded at 1.2:1 wing loading. Opened on heading in 300-375 feet but felt very soft. Great control for such a lightly loaded dog of a canopy. Easily guided right where you want to land. Enough flare and lift for a soft tiptoe no wind landing. Only reserve canopy I have had the pleasure to fly and have no complaints about it saving my live. Cheers to a good rigger too.

First Reserve Ride (250 Tempo saves my butt)
Rated by: mbondvegas (more about me) on 2006-12-31 00:00:00 (user reviews) Review ID:1727

Pros: Opened Fast and Clean; Suprisingly good flare!
Cons: None

I just took my first reserve ride this morning on a 1998 Tempo 250. It deployed quickly and handled as I expected it to given the light-loading (a little mushy, but do you really want to be hot doggin' your reserve?). I thought the flare was great, perfect stand-up on no-wind day. UPDATE (ride 2): Well the second ride (a terminal ride in on a WingSuit flight) opened like a bomb and really hurt. The canopy then had a strong left turn in it. I had to hold 3/4 right brake to offset it. This made the flare pretty darn week and a did a bit of a PLF. The thing still saved my butt again, but I'm going to retire this 250 and get a new PD Reserve for my WingSuit rig. I still have a Tempo 210 in my other rig and feel comfortable that it will save my butt when the time comes. So, the Tempo works...but I'm wandering if these reserves deform in someway with hard openings that cause this often reported left turn....???

Just had first ride on Tempo 170
Rated by: Jeth (more about me) on 2005-09-06 00:00:00 (user reviews) Review ID:1369

Pros: It got me down
Cons: Didn't handle very well

I just had a nasty cutaway due to a premature horseshoe/baglock at 12 grand. My brand new Tempo 170 opened clean and fast, even though I was on my back. (My RSL beat me to it.) But then once I was under it I didn't really like the way it flew. I had to bury the toggle just to get turned around and it didn't have much drive or flare power. I barely moved when I was trying to fly upwind. Now this could be because I was lightly loaded under it. I think it the future I will be investing in a smaller reserve. But in any case, it did its job and got me down safely. And that was one long reserve ride from 11 grand!
