Reminds me at times not to be complacent
Rated by: cdhezel (more about me) on 2006-08-18 00:00:00 (user reviews) Review ID:1631

Pros: easy packing, good performance, slow openings,
Cons: interesting openings, very slow openings, end cell closure

I've read and heard a lot about the Spark, I'm jumping a 150 with a wingload of around 1.3(+) Though I very much like the canopy,(performs a little faster than the Sabre it was based on) it tends to remind me at times not to be complacent. When fast packed it can twist and shout, I have seriously been tempted to go reserve on at least one occasion (" full twists and starting to spiral, rear risers and a lot of kicking got the job done) Landings are a bit faster than with the equivelent Sabres I have flown but the flare is fantastic, only semi-negative is its consistant end cell closures on opening, no big deal and all in all a great rig.

my first (canopy) love
Rated by: ultimate (more about me) on 2005-09-24 00:00:00 (user reviews) Review ID:1387

Pros: easy to pack, great allround capabilities
Cons: none (up to now:))

I'm using the spark 170 canopy (wingload 1,21) and after having done approx. 60 jumps consider myself competent to judge this canopy. The first thing I noticed and further on grew very fond of, is the very packing-friendly material. In comparison to other zero-p canopies, it is easy to pack from jump no 1 onwards. I've ordere mine with a collapsible HD, which offers no drag after the opening. Even if your packjobs aren't very neat, you'll get nice, smooth openings. Calculate on burning 200 m altitude during the deployment. Canopy control is great, up to date I never had an outside landing, just because of the fact, that you can travel long distances under the canopy, if you don't do too many hard turns. On the other hand it is possible to do hp manouvering if you want to. Flaring starts relatively early, but the canopy has still some reserves until it stalls. To cut a long story short, the spark is a great allround canopy and you'll be happy having one no matter if there are wind gust or if there's hardly a breeze. I'm unable to write anything about wear and tear,as the chute is only 4 months old, but the overall impression of the spark indicates that it will be lasting a long time.
