Better than paying $80 bucks for a packing class!

Pros: good for new skydivers who want to pack
Cons: certain details not covered!

At my home drop zone (Perris Valley) they charge $80 dollars for a packing class. I own my own gear, so using the video was much more cost effective because I could practice by myself at home. If I didn't understand something, I could just rewind the tape! I would highly recommend doing several practice pack jobs at home then have someone watch you pack before you make your first jump. I just gave one of the packers at Lake Elsinore $5 bucks to watch me pack my chute and he gave me some great tips on stowing the lines and closing the container.

Save your money!

Pros: Good for newbies or students
Cons: No insider tricks and only one type of pro pack is shown

Ask three skydivers how to make a pro pack and you will get three different answers. Only one of this is in this video. The video doesn't show any insider tricks or so - just a normal side pack and a pro pack with rolled nose (hanging outside the center cell). No advices for zp or or big F111 monsters or how to steering openings by packing different. When you use this shown method you maybe will get a lot hard openings from old sabres or so. The shown method is the typically PD bubble out of the mouth of billy weber. If you want to learn modern methods like wolmary or psycho ask any guy @ your dropzone! Save the money and drink with this guy any beers! ---------- In German: so ich hoffe, mein deutsch ist besser als mein kaum zu ertragenes englisch ;). Das Video ist ebenso wie Fly like a pro schlichtweg Muell. Fragt lieber irgendwelche leute auf eurer home-dz, als euch diesem schrott anzuvertrauen. Irgendwie bestaetigt das video die annahme, dass die wirklichen trends und innovationen schon lange nicht mehr aus den staaten kommen (von psycho pack mal abgesehen). Dieses video entspringt denn auch den der zeit hinterher hinkenden skydiver gemeinde rund um rw skydive deland / PD / Billy Weber. Gezeigt wird im video ein side pack das eh kaum noch einer praktiziert, zumal die neuen kappen es eh net mögen. Und einer der zig pro pack varianten wird auch hier gezeigt. beim thema pro pack fallen mir mindestens 4 varianten ein: mit offener nase, mit gerollter nase, mit gerollter nase in der center cell und mit vorgezogenem slider. jeder kappentyp braucht seine methode aber wer seinen 94er sabre nach der gezeigten methode packt wird eine tracht pruegel nach der anderen ernten. wer denkt dass er durch das video irgendwelche insider tricks und kniffe lernen kann ist auch auf dem falschen dampfer. Man ist schliesslich in amerika und alles was von der vom hersteller geforderten norm abweicht kann im fall des falles zu schadenersatz klagen in millionenhöhe fuehren. So beschraenkt sich das video schliesslich auch auf banalitaeten wie die erklaerung der leinengruppen - wer das nicht weiss sollte mal ernsthaft ueberlegen ob er nicht seine lizenz zurueckgeben sollte. Hier fehlen wirklich nur noch einweisungen ins rundkappen packen und das bild stimmt. Daher wunderts auch nicht das man solch (in John le blancs auffassung) teufelszeug wie psycho pack, trash pack oder wolmary pack vergeblich sucht. Kauft euch von dem gespaarten geld zwei tickets und zwei bier. Ein bier für einen selber und das andere fuer den, der einen die entscheidenen pack kniffe gezeigt hat...

Beginner skydivers should be made to watch this

Pros: great for beginners
Cons: not much help for pro's

I bought this video when I was on student status with less than 30 jumps. This video helped me with the basic concept of how to properly pack a parachute. I think all beginner skydivers (less than 20 jumps)should be made to watch this
