I bet "GroundZero", aka Chris, can tell you all about it... He works for Precision

Re: [ccowden] Nitron??? [In reply to] Can't Post

Nitro is one High Performance elliptical 9-cell canopie made by High Performance Research (HIPER) from Germany. And also has the Blade which is Extreme high performance elliptical 9-cell, but has sizes since 58ft/sq.

From the web-site: The Nitro is a screen for experienced as also for inexperienced pilots. It is the perfect symbiosis between Aggresivitaet and security. Depending upon surface loading one flies very leisurely or extremely fast. Surface loads of over 2 Pound per Sqft. are possible, since the Nitro has a very high carrying capacity, which did not give it in such a way with 9-Zellern so far yet.

Also from the web site: The Blade is a high speed cap for excluding very experienced pilots with at least 700 jumps on high speed parachutes.
By the development of a completely new profile are possible and also recommendable with the Blade surface loads from 2 to 2.7 Pound per Sqft.. By decrease of the form drag, which has each flying object now once, the Blade cuts itself formally by air. By this effect the Blade with a substantially higher forward travel speed than comparable caps flies. Further we shifted the ventilation of the cells downward far so that it are almost impossible it completely to collapse. During full travel the Blade reacts to Toggle impulses extremely directly, which makes it extremely quirlig. Easily applied brakes gently sinking is drastically reduced, with still high forward travel speed. A large range, aggressive turns and a very long Swoops are the result.

The Blade canopie seens pretty cool.

The site is http://www.hipercanopies.de/

Look at the photo of a Blade 58.

One other thing.

The people of Precision saw the Nitro and put it in american market by the name of nitron, and is the same canopie. And also has one canopie in precisions web-site that will be released, the Fusion. It could be the Blade?

What is it you want to know? It's a kick ass parachute. Opens flies and surfs very nicely. Lots of bottem end. Shortish recovery arc but you can keep it in a dive pretty easily.

It's very nice canopy.

I think that sums it up for me pretty well. Just wanted some feedback. I appreciate the info.
Thanks!

Re: [zyzko] Nitron??? [In reply to] Can't Post

I know one guy who flew a Blade (size 108, i think) and his reaction can be summed up in "f*cking hot & f*cking dangerous". Cool

And the Nitro is really a great canopy which can be used in different ways. I know guys who swoop it like hell, but the bigger sizes are easily flown by beginners, too. I've been flying a nitro from jump 80, tested some other canopies inbetween but never found one I enjoyed more. I'm not a swooper (and have no intention to become one), I just fly it nice and easy.

I'm probably the only Blade Pilot in North America.

I put 1100+ jumps on a Nitron at 1.8 and now I'm jumping a Blade at 2.1

It's very fast, it can dive really long and hard but due to its short natural recovery arc can almost always be leveled out (stabbing out of course reduces swoop).

Powerful, Deep Flare, not quite as much as the Nitron I flew, but at high speeds it's extremely effective.

This canopy is not like any other. I'm not a swooping expert, but I do believe that this is as high performance as any non-crossbraced wing out there.

I've got about 200 jumps on my Blade so far and I'm only just scratching the surface of what it can do.

I highly recommend the Nitro or the Nitron for a mid-performance elliptical at lower loadings, or an intro to high performance one at 1.8 or so. Its real strong suit is the slow flight characteristics. It's a fast canopy but it will just stop in mid air if you put it in deep brakes. Great for handling traffic issues, or for letting just about any idiot on just about any size canopy land before you. I hung out in deep brakes once and matched my descent rate with a STUDENT canopy.

The fusion has been released and is in production. It' is not like the Blade. It is a 9 celltapered planform that is great at lighter loadings for novices, and medium to heavy loadings for intermiediate to expert skydivers. It is not what most would consider eliptical, and is perfect for thos that do not wan to deal with a higher performance canopy. The prefect addition to round out Precision's complete line of caonpies.

Negative.

No.

The Blade HAS been jumped by others in the US...

Myself included.

The Blade... (or as it started at Precision... Firebird,) is one mutha of a canopy.

I have just less than 50 jumps on the current version....

Just Wait!

Chris.

Now that it's official, you have to tell a bit more :-)
Are you going to produce it exactly as the blade, or will there be some differences like between the nitron and the nitro? when is the planned release date? Will there be a demo program, or will you replace it by a special offer again?

GroundZero died in 2004. I dont think he'll be answering you. But if he does, tell him I said hi.

You can probably talk to George Galloway at Precision though. I haven't seen a Precision rep at a boogie since Chris died.
