Skydive Signs II Can't Post

Well, I noticed this last year about this same time, so it's nothing new, but the signs are back! I am assuming that it's those AST guys again just like last year, so I figure they are being smart-ass because of the news story that ran last week.
It does appear that in addition to the signs, they are also putting up stickers as well this year and it also looks like they are trying to be sneaky, they are putting the stickers on the backs of Stop Signs and on electrical poles. In Kentucky, both are a direct violation of the law, so that may be something you Tennessee guys may look at in conjunction with your new law. I can't do anything about it since I live in Kentucky, but maybe some of you guys in Nashville can.

Re: [mklady] Skydive Signs II [In reply to] Can't Post

That's an old, old tactic of Skyride's, going back to even before they became known as Skyride.

In most places, it is illegal to put up advertising signs and stickers on right of ways and municipal property such as traffic signage and utility equipment. They do it anyway because they figure the cities have more important things to worry about. I remember being pissed off about all the signs that popped up in Birmingham when they only had the one DZ in Cedartown and were running my home DZ into the ground.

Well, if somebody in city government gets pissed off enough, then something can happen to Skyride's detriment.

I seem to recall the time that a Georgia city, Alpharetta, I believe, got upset by the exorbitant number of signs and stickers put up or plastered all over town advertising ASC. What did Cary Quattrocchi do? He threw the employee he ordered to put the signs and stickers up, under the bus, or to the lions.

Whoever's been doing this in Nashville, if it comes to that point, I would not be surprised if Cary does the same thing to that poor sucker.

When the city of Roswell,Ga. went after them (ASC) for this, they turned in the guy they had hired to do it and said they didn't tell him to do what he did.

I wonder if the AST management will handle this the same way.

I wonder who they are going to claim that is doing it this year. You may remember last year, Chuck tried to say that it was the guys down at Russellville, Maybe this year they will blame it on someone who has the means to actually do something about it. Perhaps an Eloy repeat?

So are you a socialist? Thats the only conclusion i get from this statement. Its called the free market Billy. If the consumer is to stupid to drive all the way to cedartown, GA that just means your home DZ sucked at advertising. It is a clear example that the people near your DZ were not being exposed to skydiving by you. Do you want to know what the secret to not letting that ever hapen again is?...advertise! Put the competitor out of buisness in your area by exposing the consumer to YOUR product and not somebody elses.

If you dont advertise and dont get customers its your fault. You just sound like a whiny little bratt that is mad cuz he sucks at playing the game. Dont hate the game, hate yourself for sucking Billy Tongue

Do you advocate advertising by putting sticker up on other signs, power poles and the side of buildings? That is not advertising it is called graffiti. It is the same thing asshole politicians do when they run for office. Billy may be whine but your idea of exposing the customer to a business sucks.Mad

Don't you mean "Scamming the customer"?
Even though they may have so called DZ in Waverly, just how many of the people who actually see the signs/stickers and make that call and lose their money, actually get to go to Waverly? Maybe,,,, 2%,,, 4% at most???

That would mean that 96 to 98% either get routed to Cedartown (and that is the few that actually get their skydive.) and the rest just get screwed with little or no hope of a refund.
Shit like that is why we have news stories like the one that just ran down in Nashville and the one that ran in Connecticut and the one in Sacramento recently on KVOR. Fortunately, those nice ladies in Sacramento and Connecticut got their refunds.

You calling me a socialist? LaughLaughLaugh

Fuck, dude.... look how small this community is! There are DZs out there who are just mom and pop operations who are just happy to be a C182 DZ, like the one in Pell City was. We didn't need an advertising budget. Didn't need to plaster signs and stickers all over the goddamn area, and we were bringing in a good number of students and tandems for such a small DZ. Well, the last two years it all dried up because ASC lied, cheated and stole.

And then after 5 years of bullshit, those assholes burned the future of skydiving at the airport with their stupid and idiotic way of running things and were run out.

If D.A.s everywhere pursued these skyride criminals they way they do for corrupt politicians, skyride would be history and its principals in jail already. Who knows, that may still happen, or not.

Enjoy your time at Waverly while you still can. Unimpressed

Re: [BillyVance] Skydive Signs II [In reply to] Can't Post

Well, I came back from vacation in Pensacola and stopped in Nashville to get gas and lunch and I could not believe my eyes when I got off the interstate and counted 6 of those Skydive/1-800-505-JUMP stickers on Stop signs and even a guard rail, ALL AT ONE INTERSECTION! Then I got home this evening and My son yelled at me and told me to turn on Channel 4, and to my surprise, they were talking about that very subject! What is it going to take to put that company of criminals out of business?

Re: [CSpenceFLY] Skydive Signs II [In reply to] Can't Post

$50 per sign, per day.... So far, the last I heard, the count is getting close to the 500 range and they've known about it for 10 days that I know of,,,,

500 signs
x50 dollars per sign
-------------
$250,000 per day
x10 days
-------------
$2,500,000 of Cary's hard earned (scammed) money to Nashville! WOW! Maybe Crime does pay!

That's $2.5 mil and growing!

If I correctly understood what was said, the law will not only get the person that is posting the signs or stickers, it will get the company who's manufacturing the stickers, so wouldn't that be interpreted as the company who had them made.

Isn't posting on a mail box a Federal offense?

Here's a follow up to the Stickers in Nashville. The reporter said that the one person who got caught had 100 stickers, but that is just one person who got caught.

I guess someone getting caught shoots down that "Our customers are doing it" excuse.
