I am withdrawing my name from consideration for election as the USPA's Southern Region Director.
I was talking with a few very smart folks who asked a few pointed questions: Can you be an effective RD if you don't go to some DZ’s? The answer in my opinion is “No, I can not”.
They also asked if I could be an effective RD if I spent most of my time outside the Region I would represent? Again I think the answer is “No, I can not”.
I talked with Vic Johnson and we see eye to eye on most things. We even see eye to eye on representing the Members of USPA. I should have talked to him earlier and I would have seen he is a good choice.
I am sorry I didn't talk to him earlier in this process as it would have avoided this whole scenario. This is my fault alone.
Some may have issues with Vic and will not want him as the RD and I would understand that too. We all have a point or two we don’t like about a candidate I am sure.
But to you all, between Vic and I, I think Vic is the better choice. I will be voting for Vic.
Kudos to you for contacting Vic straight up. I acted on info that I received from three different people and branded him a skyride supporter. I note that he didn't refute those allegations outright in his post on the other thread. But still, if there's nobody else qualified, then Vic's the man.
