The Commonwealth of Virginia, also known as The Old Dominion, is located in the South Atlantic region of the United States. The nickname was given to Virginia by King Charles II of England at the time of The Restoration for remaining loyal to the crown during the English Civil War. Virginia is bordered by North Carolina and Tennessee to the south, West Virginia to the north and west, Kentucky to the west, Maryland and Washington, D.C. to the north and east, and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. Skydiving in Virginia, together with all it's history is an experience not to be missed.

The Chesapeake Bay, which was formed following a meteoroid impact crater during the Eocene separates the contiguous portion of the Commonwealth from the two-county peninsula of Virginia's Eastern Shore. The state is 65% covered with forests which house moisture-loving hemlocks and mosses in abundance, hickory and oak in the Blue Ridge, yellow pines, and bald cypress wetland forests in the Nottoway and Great Dismal swamps.
