Nasty mean-spirited staff
Pros: Unable to evaluate
Cons: Pathetic Customer Service

Made two 120 mile round trips out there to try and jump. First attempt foiled by mechanical difficulty on the plane. The second attempt was thwarted by high winds.

Both trips, waited about 4 hours each time, and never even got put on a manifest. Staff was not communicative about status updates.

I made the mistake of asking for a refund since all I had been able to do was sit in the hangar for a total of 8 hours. Staff ripped up my paperwork, got hostile towards me, and told me not to come back. Then they proceeded to get nasty with each member of our group. I doubt these guys will be in business for long.

Place for tandem jumpers, not for experienced skydivers
Pros: Nice plane and beautiful place
Cons: They only care for the tandem jumpers; no packers for fun jumpers, they can´t see the new people in the dropzone...

This area is very interesting, nice plane, nice location, but the staff is very cold.
If you are interested in doing a tandem jump, you might like. But if you are already a skydiver and is interested in doing some jumps but has little experience and need someone to pack your main canopy quickly to take advantage of your day, give up. The few packers only only work to pack the tandems and the staff´s chutes. Everything works on the basis of the tandem jumps, it seems that the staff can´t see the fun jumpers, like me.
I went there thinking of giving at least three jumps, but after waiting for about an hour and a half for a packer for me to get one faster pack, a cool guy appeared, that wasn´t a packer but pity my situation and packed my parachute to me. It would be faster if I did it myself for one hour. Besides, nobody came to check if I nedded anything, even seeing that I was a foreigner, Brazillian.
Other than that everything they have "great policy" of "no refund", so if you're thinking of jumping (which I do not suggest), do not buy more tickets, pay only when you really goes to manifest.
Finally, I was thinking of staying there without stress and ended up leaving totally disappointed.
The next time I come to Houston, I will visit Spaceland.

Great Dropzone!
Pros: Great aircraft, quick loads, cool instructors
Cons: front office lady was a little abrupt

I did my first every tandem here with my dad & sister last june. They have a twin otter that turns loads right in front of the DZ. My instructor was fun and knowledgeable. After this experience I decided to do my AFF and get know have my A license & I look forward to the next time I'm in texas so I can go & jump with these guys as a fun jumper (I live in CA). This DZ has great camera work as well!

A nice Dz to visit for a free-fall.
Pros: Cool people, very understanding of newbies.
Cons: A little drive.

I am from Wisconsin and I was down in Houston over Christmas to visit family and thought... It's warm here i should go skydiving! It was about an hour drive to get there but I took the scenic route. I finally got there and they gave me the wrong release form. They gave me the tandem form and I was there to do my level 7 AFF. (Talk about nubies at a strange DZ!) After that got sorted everything went pretty smooth. They gave me a safety review, checked my logbook and set me up with Simon. He was a cool guy and gave me some new equipment training on BOC deployment, and we were off in the PAC. The dive went well and he signed of on my logbook. Next time I am down there I will definitely come back!
Take my review with a grain of sand... What do I know after only 9 jumps. The bottom line is I did it, I did it at SDH, and they helped in every way possible!

Good experience at SD Houston
Pros: Friendly. Helpful towards a new jumper.
Cons: Not any.

I'm a newbe with less than 60 jumps. I had an afternoon to kill while in Houston for a family reunion, so I visited SDH. As a newbe, I was nervous at a strange DZ. However, everyone was super nice and made me feel comfortable and right at home. I made three jumps including a three-way and a two-way with Stacey who videoed my jump and gave me some very helpful pointers. Nothing like seeing yourself in a video to see what you're doing wrong. I certainly hope to jump SDH again soon.
