Nice small DZ with great location

The Jumping Place Rated 5 by: cboc2010 on 2011-08-04

Pros: Cathy (DZO) is the nicest lady, very personable, beautiful scenery
Cons: Only the 182 during the summer

Showed up to jump once or twice with 4 friends who had tandems. The day was busy but we got all of us up and I got to jump out and fly around with one of my friends who did a tandem. Dan, the tandem master, was really professional and good at working with first timers. Cathy, the DZO and pilot, worked her butt off but at the same time had enough energy to talk to me at the plane while fueling, give me a tour the entire looooong 182 flight and gave me some funny history about the area. Cathy's pretty much awesome and I couldn't have asked for a better plane ride. One of my favorites out of hundreds. To top it all off she gave me the jump for free. Wish I could have stayed and made more jumps.

Small but vibrant dropzone great for all experience levels!

The Jumping Place Rated 5 by: RunwayKicker on 2011-05-15

Pros: Friendly, experienced staff; in-town, great view!
Cons: Poor parking, no AC, smaller aircraft, weekends only

I absolutely love this place. My boyfriend and I did our AFF here with experienced instructors who made us extremely comfortable. The owner, Cathy, is both a master rigger and a pilot and is knowledgeable about every possible question you could have about this sport. There are almost always coaches and instructors available for anything you want to learn and jumpers of all experience levels make this their home DZ.

The drop zone itself has a pretty wide landing area, bisected by a runway, and it is kept clean and mowed. The packing tent is large enough for several rigs to be packed at once and there is a nice restroom facility complete with shower. The office/manifest area has souvenirs and equipment for sale and plenty of gear to rent (free for AFF students). It is located in the middle of town, less than a couple miles from restaurants and very near to the interstate. It is also next door to the fire station, so you know emergency services could be close at hand if need be!

The staff is ALWAYS friendly and accommodating; I have never once seen an angry customer (except over maybe the weather). They edit the videos right there and they can be done in as little as an hour or less. It is a very family-friendly place and the staff usually brings their kids to hang around. They just bought a second aircraft; both are Cessna 182s (a bit small).

All-in-all I would say that though small, this drop-zone is definitely worth a visit. You can't miss that awesome view!

Ocean View + Great People = Good Times

The Jumping Place Rated 5 by: freestyle7457 on 2010-05-30

Pros: Everything
Cons: Couldn't stay long enough

Stopped here on my way back to NY and found the nicest DZ around. It may seem small, but the people there clearly love life and treated me like I had been jumping there since day one. Thanks for the good time and I will definitely be back.

Cons: Small Bathroom, with only one shower

Great family atmosphere and not just because Cathy has a huge family.

Small relaxed dz

The Jumping Place Rated 5 by: blackfox on 2008-03-02

Pros: Easy going, relaxed and friendly DZ
Cons: Cessna

This was a realy cool place to hang out at, everyone was friendly and eager to help, the ride to altitude has some great views of the ocean, its also in a great little city with restaurants only a minute away, the landing was easy to land, they sell standard acessories and had have used gear to sell also, the family staff is awesome, good place to chill
