Great place to take your AFF training

Skydive Idaho Rated 5 by: cymrych79 on 2011-08-23

Pros: Excellent Instructors/Coaches, great staff, best C-182 out there!
Cons: None I can think of.

I just earned my A License at Skydive Idaho, so I'm a little biased. Great facility on a private airstrip, huge grass landing area for fun jumper and a seperate not-so-grassy area for students. The instructors are some of the best in the business, and they go out of their way to give you one-on-one attention before, during, and after your training jump. They have the finest polished aluminum C-182 I've ever jumped from, their staff is excellent, pilots fantastic, and the camping is great! I'm just finishing a 4 week stay here, and the people here really make the place feel like a 2nd home.

Two notes: Athough the listing here calls them Star Skydiving Center, the business is now called Skydive Idaho. Their phone and email is also incorrectly stated. Their phone is 208-455-0000, email is I'll talk to the owner today, let him know he needs to update their listing here on Dropzone.

Secluded, Friendly, Close to amenities.

Skydive Idaho Rated 4 by: skyuba on 2009-06-20

Pros: Huge landing area, Private airfield, Great instuctors.
Cons: Not closer to my home.

After a 18 month stint with no jumps, me and the spouse tried star out for our return to skydiving. The instructors were very informative and friendly.

We were ready to jump after a review of the emergency procedures and of the landing area. My spouse did a couple of tandem jumps, then a couple of radio assist jumps.

We were so impressed with the professionalism of the coaches that we can't wait to go back. They really improved our self confidence and skills.

I would highly recommend star skydiving center as the place to go for training and to just have fun. Prices are fair and they don't charge extra to use a credit card. Plus they're open every day!. We are planning many return trips.

Old school vibe with new school safety.

Skydive Idaho Rated 5 by: sputnik74 on 2008-07-22

Pros: Awesome vibe. Very welcoming and inclusive.
Cons: None.

In business since 1964, Star Skydiving Center is located in an old army barracks with an old drag racing strip for a runway. I stopped by on a business trip and was immediately welcomed by a great group of jumpers that went way out of their way to make me feel more like a guest than a customer.

This is a great place for new jumpers as it is a private airfield with lots of outs, no outside air traffic, and a very helpful, encouraging, safety-conscious staff.

With two Cessnas, they were able to keep both the tandems and the fun jumpers happy all day. The landing area is HUGE, and the facilities are great, but it is the people that make this a truly memorable dropzone. If you are looking for a fun, safe, scenic place to skydive, check out Star Skydiving. I will definitely be back.

Great "home" Dropzone

Skydive Idaho Rated 5 by: Para_Frog on 2006-05-30

Pros: Awesome group of managers/instructors/coaches/and fun jumpers of all levels
Cons: A permanent turbine would make this place Mecca

Grab your gear, drive out, say "hi" and get on a load with a bunch of great jumpers. SkyGods don't get much traction here. Best facilities in Idaho by far.
