Gearing Up the Southwest Skydiving League

Posted Thu Jan 27 2000

By Eric Asendorf

There is much excitement in the southwest when it comes to RW competitions this year. The newly formed Southest Skydiving League will kick off on March 25 at Skydive Arizona. There will be a total of six meets split between Perris Valley Skydiving, Skydive Elsinore and Skydive Arizona. Teams are very excited as there were only two major meets last year in the southwest. Both were America's Cup meets which is not expected to continue on this year.

Graham Harding, having just recently moved to the Phoenix area, has a purpose. He is helping expand the National Skydiving League by administering the newly formed SSL. Graham has done an excellent job in setting up the meets with the dropzone, having OMNISKORE provide the judging for the competitors, and having an on-site coach for each of the meets.

Currently, the meet schedule is:

  • March 25 Skydive Arizona
  • April 29 Skydive Elsinore
  • June 24 Perris Valley Skydiving
  • July 22 Skydive Elsinore
  • August 19 Perris Valley Skydiving
  • September 16 Skydive Arizona

The Team that ranks highest through selected meets will represent the SSL at the NSL finals this year. Pre-registration is already underway and may be done online at the SSL's webpage. http://www.southwestskydiving.com/

Pre-registration will save each team money if they plan to participate heavily in the SSL. Please visit the SSL's webpage and we will plan on seeing you at the first meet!!
