Mirage G4

Pros:
Form, Fit, Function, delivery
Cons:
A bit Pricey
Well, after more than 30 consecutive years in the sport and owning eight different rigs; (one Crossbow, one Rapid Transit, two Vectors, one Talon, one Talon II and two Javelin Odysseys), I thought it was high time to buy a Mirage G4 and find out for myself why this manufacturer has attracted such a fan fare.
I was measured (twice) by Bonnie at Gravity Gear in San Diego, plunked down a big fat pile of crisp $100 bills and watched her hit "send" on the online order form. SIx weeks and four days later a new M0 rig showed up. We popped a Cypres II, Optimum 126 and Sabre2 135 into the container and then I put it on. My first impression was, "holy sh@!" this rig fits PERFECT! I mean of all my rigs, none of them ever fit me this good! Everything on the G4 was a custom fit; the main lift web, the leg and chest straps were all made for moi! The construction of this rig is awesome; no minor detail is overlooked. Sure it's possible to make another rig less expensive (and just as reliable), but I have to say there is something very gratifying about the quality of this rig. It feels so good when you are in the air and under canopy. Mirage is truly the "Cadillac of Rigs", bar none!

Pros:
comfortable, durable, quality design, DELIVERY TIME :-)
Cons:
nothing
It's a freakin G4, what else you can you say? In my mind, top rigs on the market are the G4; Odyssey; Micron; but who feels like waiting 4 months for a new container? NOT ME.
No worries about anything when wearing this rig. It's super comfy. Who else can deliver a new custom rig to your doorstep in 4 weeks? Definitely not Javelin or Vector.

Pros:
Great rig, Great factory support!
Cons:
None
Just bought a used G4 with 75 jumps. Took it to Mirage to have the harness sized for me. Jeanie took my measurements and Gus said it would need new leg straps and the main web shortened. On Tuesday he said it would be ready on Friday. He called the next day and said it was ready for pickup. He even repacked the reserve. All for $175. I highly recommend the G4 and Mirage for their support. Great people.

Mirage G4

Pros:
Comfort, fit, build
Cons:
not found any yet
Stoked with my G4. I had a G3 before but with downsizing decided to go for a new container too. Basically everything I was happy with on my G3 is sound, and the grumbles are gone! The spacer foam is really good, holds it in the right place for FF. I also ordered the unisyn harness with lumbar support, which hugs my body really well.
The service from Mirage was great. I was able to get the original details from my first rig so I could compare sizing - useful, as my own measurements (taken 3 times!) turned out to be the same as the G3 so the size would have been a touch out. Discussion with Ward at Mirage helped me sort this out.
I didn't get the split bag (have to confess don't know whats going on there) but no probs so far.
Not due a third one for a while but I know where I'll be looking!

Pros:
Comfortable great fit
Cons:
None
Just bought a G4 for my first container, and could not love it more, I was jumping a wings for most of the season and found the G4 much more comfortable. The padding in the back is very comfortable on the trip up. the molded ends on the cutaway housing also feel much more sturdy that most rigs I have looked into.

Mirage G4

Pros:
Solid construction; attention to detail, fit and finish
Cons:
none so far
On a rained-out day at DeLand I stopped by Mirage Systems' shop. Bob Beck gave me a tour that was very impressive. You immediately get the impression that these rigs are handmade by people who are really good at what they do and love doing it. I was especially impressed by the number of inspections each component undergoes before it reaches final form. I thought my new (self-measured) rig was a little tight, so Bob had me don it. There was a consensus that the stabilizers could be lengthed just a little. Bob the production manager stopped what he was doing, performed the Necesssary surgery, and later that day I came back to a rig that felt even better. Plus, Ward Hessig repacked my reserve, and this was all on the house! Now I know why I see so many Mirage rigs at my DZ and on this website.

Mirage G4
in Unknown Tag: 'cat_linked'
Pros:
Seemingly great build quality, good customer support for second hand, safety in design, modular, zero gear fear
Cons:
Quite expensive
I finally got my first rig a few months ago. It's a Mirage G4 with Pilot 168 and PD-R 160. What a great bit of kit!
Although 2nd hand and built for someone 5'11 and 12.5 st, It fits on me well enough at 5'7" and 10st, without modification.
Reading over the mirage site, I really liked the amount of information about the design and features on the G4. I emailed Mirage about buying second hand and to verify the rig I was looking at and they were helpful and gave quick responses.
The build quality of the rig is great, I like the modular design so bits can be easily replaced in the field. The D-Bag design is good. Anti-snag grommets are good. Riser covers and guides are solid. Almost no velcro on the whole rig. Freefly tuck tab handle is secure but still a decent throw.
It's comfortable and I'm happy for my first rig. I do not look at anyone else's rig with envy, I love mine!

Mirage G4
in Unknown Tag: 'cat_linked'
Pros:
Comfortable, Leg straps
Cons:
Stitching
The Mirage G4 was my first rig after I got off student status. I have around 125 jumps on it. I bought it brand new. I love the wide padded leg straps, very comfortable under canopy.
Cons: I have sent the rig back 3 times due to stitching issues. They seem to fray on my rig around the reserve handle and down near the leg straps. A buddy of mine jumps a G3 and has the same issues with his. Even though I like the rig I am researching new rigs, possibly the Icon from Aerodyne.

Pros:
the engineering and manufacture is THE BEST IN THE WORLD.
Cons:
I don't own 3 of them
The mirage G4 is hands down, the best made container system on the market today. They look the best, they are the most comfortable and there is no rigger in the world that can say a bad thing about them. Good job Mirage, I couldn't be happier.

Pros:
Comfortable, practicle and nice looking!
Cons:
more expensive that most containers (but well worth it)
It's the most comfortable rig I've ever worn. It's design and layout makes it easy to pack and maintain. Outstanding craftsmanship, kudos to the design team at Mirage!
