I help moderate another forum, www.martialtalk.com

we have a very useful feature there. Under each post, there's a clicky that says "report to moderator" and then it takes you to a screen where you can put in what's wrong, or what needs to be fixed (an NSFW warning, perhaps), and an email is sent to the mods of that forum to let them know to check it out.

Its been a very useful tool for the mods over at MT. Not sure how practical it would be to implement here but it would be nice to be able to alert the mods to something, because we know you all can't be everywhere at once.

With maybe a limit on how many times each thread can be reported - otherwise I can see floods of reports being sent to them.

we were a little afraid of that happening too...

but the thing is, for every ten people or so who have an issue with the post, only maybe one will take the time to fill out a report.

oh... someone asked me to define what I meant by issue...

for example, if someone posts an attachment that is NSFW and doesn't mark it as such, you can report to mod so they know about it. It can also be used to report a technical problem, or someone being outrageously rude.

We used to have this feature a couple of years ago. It disappeared with the new message boards.

I think the mods keep a close eye on everything and read every post, so I don't know how necessary it is. Usually something questionable is gone pretty quick.

We do appreciate a PM if you see something getting out of hand. If you can include a link to the post/thread that helps a lot too. Smile

Since most of the mods have their profile set on invisible, 95% of the time I have no clue to to PM to report something (if its bad). Usually I have to guess trying to think which greenie (that has access to that forum) posted last.

IMHO, the report feature would be nice.

I just checked every mod's name. There is only 1 person set to "invisible".

That's different then it was a couple months ago. A couple months ago it was a lot more.
