Clearing Up Some of the Olav, AD test rumors....
Can't Post
Hey everybody, I know there's a bunch of rumors going around about Olav and the AD test. I'm going to clear some up.
First, the one about now only Olav and Stephania being able to give it, FALSE. You can find a full list of instructors at www.worldfreefly.com, and no, none of anyone's priveleges have been revoked. Second, the one about now having to pay a fee each year to renew your AD license, FALSE. You get it, you keep it.
This info was sent to me directly by Stephania, so it has been verified. Hope this clears up some of those nasty rumors!!

I'm looking and I don't see a full list of instructors. If you mean the list of "national representatives" it looks to me like that's just the list of the person with the lowest "A" from each country.
The website says what you have to do to take the test, but no where does it seem to say where or with whom...
The B and higher are even more difficult to obtain. Not because of the skill, but because of who can administer them. Last I heard, no one, without specific prior approval from Olav.

To my understanding, it is the A and B that can be given by the instructors. I believe it is the C and D which have to be give by Olav or someone else with clearing from Olav. (Prolly Swanson, the only other qualified D holder). I'll post a full list of people qualified in the US to give it here sometime within the next day or so, but anyway, that's what I know. I'll double check with Stephaia or Olav to verify this, just in case.

Take this nothing more as rumor. I can't remember whom or whom all I heard this from so I can't back up what I say. But I am under the impression that Steve Utter gave up his AD test giving privilages on his own accord. Not so much because he had a fallin out with Olav. Maybe just tired of doing ball jumps. I know ballmastering got old for me pretty quick. Think about it, alls you are doing (hopefully) is falling the tube videoing and waiting to retrive the ball. Pretty cool at first but probably gets old after a 100 times. That and considering your legally responsible for the thing as well as the pilot who has absolutely no control over the situation once the ball leaves the aircraft. For the freefly student the ball (in the right enviroment) can be one of the best training aids ever in freeflying. But for the ballmaster, the risks (to me) outweigh the rewards. Therefore I do not do ball jumps unless the student freeflyer is paying for it as coach jump. I always require a pre-ball jump to make sure they are qualified. And even then sometimes I may still decline to jump the ball simply because I don't want to. When in the door if the conditions do not look right I run the ball up to the cockpit and give it to the pilot. It makes the pilots more comfortable knowing you will make the resposible decisions when theirs pilot's licenses among other things are on the line.

so, because him and olav had differences, he is no longer a 'qualified' D holder? or did you mean to say that he is not 'qualified' to give the test?
.
Sorry I said that wrong. What I meant was just what Levin said, he no longer has priveleges to give the test. Of course he still has his AD-D, but is no longer a FSMS instructor.

and who are "the instructors" ?
Swanson needed clearance from Olav to do a B last year.

If i am right so does Rook Nelson
Not according to the web site.
Rook could certainly do it, but he's I don't expect that he will. He doesn't have to prove that he's at that skill level, doesn't have to jump through Olav's hoops. He's got a handful of gold medals, and pretty much universal recognition as one of the best body fliers alive today.

Current World Champion as of yesterday. But why should that count for anything?
