N3 vs N3 Audio

I'm looking at getting an N3 audible alti. Is anybody able to clarify something for me?
The N3 audio requires earbuds for audio whereas the standard N3 does not as it has a speaker. Does the standard N3 still read "break off break off" "deploy deploy" and give you the option to read out 12,000ft 11,000ft etc as you decend or is that only available with the N3 audio?
Has anyone been able to permanently mount a good quality speaker in their helmet for this purpose? I have some I use in my bike helmet but can't hear shit at 100km+ so pretty useless in freefall and I'd prefer speakers over earbuds that would be a nuisance and could fall out.
I emailed alti-2 about voice tones yesterday. From what i understood in the response email it said you can make custom and pick which ever tone you want.

Sorry, do not know how to clickify. The speakers have Velcro on the back and rest on the padding directly against the ear. Can hear fine in freefall. I tried different speakers between padding and helmet and could not hear anything in freefall.

I had a set like that in my bike helmet. Worked OK but outside noise at speed made it hard to hear. I might try them and if it's no good I'll just use earbuds or even get moulded iplugz.

I have the N3A hooked up with $20 Moto-Com( USA) speakers. It plays music via an Ipod shuffle. Has a user created sound bite for ascending thru 1K, or a snippet of silence in my case. They are fairly loud under canopy without the pod being turned up to max. This would depend on your source MP3 I bet. I get a nice female voice reading off altitude in 1k increments ( bare in mind under the slow canopy descent.)then the 1500-1000-500 foot downwind, base and final announcements in that same voice.
This is in a custom helmet used strictly for CRW video. I venture for free fall I might need in the ear bud type speakers or much more expensive headsets stripped down to the bare driver for use at 120 MPH sound levels to hear the alarms.
The thing about all of the standard alarm audibles regardless of brand is that the alarm is thru a piercing peizo element that is very easy to hear at most surrounding sound levels. That can't be said of soundbites you program thru a system also designed to play music in the back ground. You will be doing a lot of testing of various drivers or possibly earbuds depending on what you want it to do.
