Canopy Dimesions
Can't Post
Hi all,
A friend of mine is looking for an old canopy as a wall decoration. The wall is 12 feet long and the ceiling is 8 feet high. Could some one tell me what size canopies would fit in this area. My guess is that it would need to be fairly small.
There are NO old canopies that are that small. Anything that isn't a zp pocket rocket like a velocity was never that small. Closest is some of the smallest reserves that probably still have value as airworthy. Besides a dirty ram air canopy isn't particularly decorative. Try a demilled never issued military C-9 round and cover the ceiling too.
Thanks, yeah just did some rough maths (which is prolly what should have done first ) and the canopy would have to be well under 100 square feet to come even close to fitting.
The chances of finding something like that which is half decent would be somewhere between none and bugger all.
Thanks for idea on a small round, they come up on eBay pretty regularly.
PD made Sabres in 97 sq ft. Might be able to find some of them nobody's willing to jump.
There is still a problem with that, though. Even a relatively low aspect ratio 7-cell canopy comes in around 2:1. A Sabre is more like 2.5:1. A Sabre that filled with wall horizontally would have a 12 foot span and only a 4.8 foot chord. Less than 60 square feet.
