I wish everyone would stop saying "the edge of space"

space officially begins at 62 miles MSL

23 miles is REALLY REALLY REALLY HIGH UP, but its not the edge of space...

23 miles is REALLY REALLY REALLY HIGH UP, but its not the edge of space...

100km (62 miles) is VERY arbitrary.

NASA recognizes 80km. for astronauts.

There is no "edge" to the atmosphere, it just gets thinner and thinner the higher you go.

Perhaps the edge of space is a wide enough edge that it can accommodate a lot of hypeTongue

Yep. I already get that.

I just get irritated by any attempt to sensationalize or create additional drama by using inaccurate catch phrases.

This type of event is dramatic enough to stand on its own without the media adding their touch Smile

My personal test as to whether I'm in space or not is "are my eyeballs boiling?" If they are boiling, I'm in space.

They just scrubbed the mission for today. Winds too gusty.

Well actually, they called it because 'window for launch' when the gusty winds subsided within suitable parameters was missed because of an equipment problem.

Malfunction with one of the two radios resulted in delays configuring the balloon for flight.

By the time they got the gas bag out of the crate and filling, the window of calm passed.

Should have been planned for as this is a quite typical & easily foreseen Skydiving scenario ~ 'bout the time a blow-job ends, communication gets difficult.
