GQ Security with SES Midlite
Can't Post
Received today for I&R a GQ350 with a SES 26 Midlite. I told the guy I'm not going to work on the GQ system but he agreed to let me hold onto it for inspection.
I'm looking forward to finding out what's inside, as I'm curious how the previous rigger fit the Midlite into the GQ, as the Strong diaper creates uneven line lengths.
Anyone familiar with the Strong conversion diaper?

Hi Nova,
I have had a number of letters & phone calls to Strong on this very issue.
If you call Strong, ask for Chuck McHugh. He is the Head of Engineering ( or something like that ).
He told me that back in the acid mesh days they had a lot of customers who had Security 350 rigs with SAC canopies in them that had to be replaced. So Strong used the sliders from the Security canopies and did some drop tests and then began replacing the Security canopies with their Mid-Lites.
Give Chuck a call and I'm sure he will tell you just what he told me.

Most Strong diapers can be packed as Type 2 or Type 4.
Type 2 diapers are sewn onto the front of the canopy, parallel with the radial seam. Only stow two bights of the left line group on the diaper. The rest of the lines are stowed - unevenly - in the pack tray. This packing method works best with very thin containers like Long Softie, Butler Long Back types, SEI Para-Cushion Chair, Security 150, 250 and 350.
Type 4 diapers are also sewn onto a radial seam, on the front of the canopy. They have two or three rubber bands on the diaper. Some manufacturers allow riggers to pack them as Type 2 or Type 4. When packing a Type 4 diaper, all the lines (both left and right) are inserted into the locking stows and the rest of lines are stowed on the diaper, parallel to a radial seam. Type 4 diapers work better in thick containers like: seat, chest and wedged backs. Type 4 diapers are standard on Strong Lopos, Mid-Lites, Preserves and Butler's round canopies.
