Retractable Pilot Chutes for Furry"s
Can't Post
Ok…. Here’s the deal. Since we don’t have Lightnings/Storms, some of us old timers are doing CRW with old F-111’s. We’ve attained (thanks TOP.. your old Maverick is seeing action) some good older canopy’s, set up some rigs, and are trying to introduce CRW to the younger jumpers. Some that have tried this have gone on to do “Real” CRW with real CRW dawgs.
My question to the CRW community… Who has experience rigging retractable (three ring) pilot chutes to a Furry/Maverick? I love doing down planes but have seen the carnage of tangled pilot chutes. If you have information/experience, please help us out.
Is this something that is feasible? Who can do the work? What is needed? Any information would be helpful. Thanks…

I had one that had the system set up on the top skin with a ring on the center line and the next cell over outside rib, each side. Also, the Fury CRW version had a centerline retraction system that was on the bottom side of the topskin. Both worked well.
If you need some specific info, PM me you phone number and I will talk to you about what we had back in the day. PeteS (here on DZ) can do the set up, he's very familiar with what we used.

PS. Glad to know the old dog still had some fight in it!

If your going to do the retractable mod you might want to change your center and maybe your end cell a/b lines to non-cascade and make a"s red. It can't be to much and would also be safer.
