REALLY? Why is this still a limit? I'm going blind looking at all the teeny pictures. I have good stuff I could upload, but it's a pain to shrink stuff to micro size.

You're right, these limits are from the days when 100kb was the size of an image coming directly from the camera. I will try get a change to about 400kb.
Having had a closer look at the details I am actually confused now.
Which section of the site is it that you are having problems uploading images to?
Our photo section has a 1mb limit, which is pretty big, while the forums and classifieds have a 300kb limit, which may be a little small, but pretty normal for forum environments.
