Yes, we still do static line line courses at Fallschirmsport Marl. First 10 jumps €695 (includes 2 days ground school + gear + tickets) Next 10 jumps €475.(includes gear + tickets)
I'm surprised you have to front up with the money for 10 jumps when you don't know whether you will continue after jump number one, until you have done it.
Is that normal?. It doesn't seem a good way to encourage people to try it. There is no way I would have ever skydived if they asked me to pay up front for 10 jumps....

As the website they are jumping this weekend. But maybe you can call them before you drive there. I can´t tell you more, because I´ve never been there.

...according to their web page they offer a 1 jump test course for 195EUR. My club in southern Bavaria offers a 2 jump "Schnupperkurs" for I think 280EUR...which get acknowledged to the overall course price if you carry on afterwards.

Your friend may also want to check out "Bad Lippspringe" near Paderborn. It's run by the british military (Rhine Army Parachute Association), but looks&feels pretty much like any civilian DZ. They're friendly, professional, have a Caravan, offer SL courses, and have a huge landing area. Don't know about prices.
Yeah thanks, I know about Bad Lippspringe, some of my jump mates from the early 70's spent time posted there. One of my ex students jumps there, and also at Soest.
Marl seems pretty good, and he's already booked in for their next course.
