Hawaii April 2012 Can't Post

Hi all. I've seen a few posts about jumping in Hawaii and looking forward to a trip there at the end of April. I'm looking for some people to jump with down there and maybe a few more comments about which DZ (I'm thinking skydive Hawaii). Cheers

Might want to do some checking. I think they are pretty restrictive out there as far as jump numbers for traveling jumpers.

Aloha!

I would recommend that you stay away from Skydive Hawaii, the Manager/Owner is very rude (read tripadvisor and yelp). My wife went there for her birthday but was told it would be several hours before she would even board the plane. Long story short, she rescheduled and was told there would be no cancellation fee, she got an email 2 days later saying that she would be charged that fee. When she called in to try to explain that she was told there would be no cancellation fee, the manager Frank yelled at her and hung up and still said she would be charged the fee.

Additionally,

Mandatory tipping $25 min required from all jumpers (look at the walls and see how youre greeted/farewelled, theyll all remind you)

Even though you make a reservation, people will jump in line ahead of you and get placed ahead of you despite your reservation appointment.

Many people were complaining that they did not reach the 10,000 - 12,000 altitude, and consequently never got the advertised 50 sec free fall time. Read the reviews and judge for yourself, or just do a little test with the manager and see how he acts when you say you got charged but werent supposed to. Quite honestly my wife was scared enough that the guys temper was enough to mess with his better judgement and had to cancel. Go to the place next door, shorter line too and probably a better business without the deceptive business practices and terrible customer service. If you do talk to Mary from Skydive Hawaii, she is more than great, ill give that to them.

Thanks for the advice. I heard that Pacific will likely be better for a fun jumper. I have ~250 jumps and a B-license, so should be OK with requirements (correct me if I am wrong!). Would appreciate any hints on lodging and getting to the dropzone as well!

There are affordable condos, right by the DZ, We usually rent a place right on the beach , don;t stay in the city, stay on the North shore, you can walk to the DZ from there is you want!

If your doing a tandem, request Ed White....You couldn;t be in safer hands!

This is Jump Run...Now ya know why they are careful about who jumps there!
