My initial thoughts were: This is not awesome, you are not supposed to deploy a drogue at terminal, and I doubt the harness is designed for that either.
Apparently the kid had a lot of tunnel time, this was at some dz in Spain

I'd sure hate to have a premature deployment like that. Those rigs aren't designed for free flying and those speeds are hard on the drogue. With that said, I've seen more dangerous things than that and they looked very in control.

I'm curious what their fall rate would be. Would it be much different than two individual freeflyers on their heads, since they're presenting about the same cross section to the relative wind as two individuals would?

sets a poor example
Like the TI snugging up his legtraps right before climibing in the plane with the free ends hanging loose? Or the student not being hooked up or with a snug harness while the door is open for the 4-way jumprun at 10,500? Or the hunk of drouge hanging out of the pouch when the TI knew full well he was going head down with the student? Or the unsecured straps beating the shit out of the student while freeflying?
Bad example? Nah, it's Europe! Stupid Americans could never understand their level of refinement and culture.

Was at a DZ where I saw the DZO was going to take an upjumper's friend on a tandem. There was going to be lurkers on the jump. When they did the dirt dive, I realized they planned to launch as a flower in a FF group.
I trunk packed my rig right then and haven't been back there since.

There has already been mentioned that flying at this speed adds unproportionally to wear and tear but I concede the TI seems to be very in control and obviously knows what he is doing. I wouldn't do any fun like that, though. What I find more disturbing are other points: - TI gets into his leg straps on his way to the plane. I've made it a custom/ritual to NEVER leave our hangar without my gear properly fastened. - A 4way team jumps (I guess at 3200m or something) meaning the door is open and the tandem pax is NOT attached to his TI. Considered a NEVER-EVER-DO-THIS! in Germany! - The pax gets his gear fastened in the plane, OMG. See above, I also made it a custom (as all of my colleagues do) to NEVER let a pax leave the hangar without their gear properly adjusted and fastened.

Best tandem headdown was in the vid by Jimmy H. " Standard Issue " double headdown tandems in flower exit. Out maybe 10 plus seconds face to face. With the music in the back ground "fuck you I won't do what you tell me, fuck you I won't do what you tell me "......classic.

You can pose the same question for doing gainers or flips out of the door. Or really any other activity that isn't jumpinp out and immediately going flat, stable, and deploying the drouge.
