Leg straps
Can't Post
Is it ok if the leg straps on my rig dont fit real tight? They fit flush against my legs with the straps pulled all the way,but not tight....The harness is a b-15 with lateral 22, leg pad 23...I'm 5'3" 115 lbs. I was told that this harness size would work for me, but I would like to here some other opinions.I'm new at this, and already I can tell that I'm going to be really anal when it comes to my gear,so if you all can bare with the hopefully intelligent and sometimes stupid questions that I've been posting I'd be grateful...You guys have been great...Thanks Jason
If you just can't pull them uncomfortably tight, they're fine. If you can get your whole hand in between the legstrap and your leg without pushing, then it's probably too loose.
Get a local instructor who's good at making sure the gear fits right to check it. Also, changing the leg pad to make it shorter, so the leg straps can be tightened up more, shouldn't be a hugely costly proposition.
If the legstraps are just barely tight enough when pulled all the way-they're too big. You want them as tight as possible (without being uncomfortable, of course). Some modern canopies, especially the high performance ones, are very receptive to "leg stap" input, you can actually steer some of them with only the legstraps. Opening shock is amplified by loose straps. Also, what if you lose weight? Check into getting the pads re-sized.
