Argus Ban List
We currently have 6 stickies containing info on individual manufacturers that are now banning the Argus. I thought it might be time to tidy them up. Here is the current list (as best as I can tell) UPDATED: 24 JUNE 2011

>Apparently Sunrise is not banning Argus for Wings containers.
That makes sense; the location of the cutter in the Wings container will not result in a locked container if the cutter fires but does not cut the loop. (True of Javelins as well.) However, it does not protect against a partially severed loop that breaks later during handling of the rig, so it's still important to inspect the AAD to see if that has happened.
Re: The ban for the Dolphin by Altico, I have just received a
CANCELLATION OF SERVICE BULLETIN #ASB 032411
from Altico.
It says in part:
"After further consideration, and review of additional information, Altico has reached the conclusion tht because of the location of the cutter on the Dolphin, it would not be possible for that scenario to occur on a Dolphin."
In my opinion Basik's message concerning AAD's is the best. It is not up to rig manufacturers to approve or not an AAD. If one is installed it should be done according to the manual.
If a Rig manufacturer says that the AAD states it has to be in "X" location and the Rig says that is not feasible, then I would suggest the Rig's manual is the one to win out.
Where do you see that? According to the SB posted higher up in the thread:
Quote:
Identification: Dual Hawk Tandem System P/N 103000 through 103005. We do not approve the Argus AAD’s to be used in any of Strong Enterprises solo skydiving systems
Emphasis added by me. I see that as saying that NO strong solo or Dual Hawk (PN 103000-103005) are authorized Argus installs.
