Usually, AFF jumps are included into the jump count needed for a license.

Yes, everything done in your AFF counts towrds your A license. After you are cleared for solos, you will need to do coached jumps (with an instructor qualified to sign you off) to get the remainder of your yellow card signed off. Then once that is done and have 25 jumps, you can do your check dive for your license.

You can do coach jumps, with a coach, who works under the supervision of an instructor. The instructor signs you off, but you can jump with the coach.

Crazy

I think it means that a coach works under the supervision of an instructor just like a packer works under the supervision of a rigger.Laugh

Yes they all count. I mean after all anything you performed during those jumps cant be taken away from you just because you had instructors to witness it happen. I had a good portion of my proficiency card done when I finished my AFF. If you havent started yet it might be a good idea to look at the A license proficiency card before starting AFF to know what kind of stuff you will be required to do for your license. On the other hand some people have a hard time with just meeting the TLO's during AFF so make sure you are concentrated on what you have to do for each jump before worrying about other things.

last time i checked you dont need 25 jumps to do your check dive. you just have to complete all your aff and coach jumps.

As stated here in the SIM: http://www.uspa.org/tabid/165/Default.aspx

You will have to scroll down to the A license requirementsWink

Umm, was he wrong? Does the SIM say the checkdive must be completed after 25 jumps? Cause I did his checkdive... before his 25th jump, I'm sure. Should I take away his license? I think I better, just to be safe! Tongue

Re: [jrmrangers] A license checks during aff? [In reply to] Can't Post

A couple quick things regarding your posts. First of all during your AFF concentrate on the AFF. Don't worry about does this count towards my A license, worry about finishing your AFF. To answer the question some things can go towards your license but other things don't, again don't worry about the license so much and concentrate on the AFF. Finally regarding asking stupid questions, please ask them and if need be ask them twice. As an instructor I hate nothing more than hearing the words I should have asked about that or I was wondering about that...People say there are no stupid questions, that isn't exactly true but in this sport your life and the lives of anybody else in the air is on the line...Ask your questions and if you ever get blown off because you asked a question you may need to find a different instructor or drop zone...We are all learning in this sport from jump number 1 to 1 million

Technically, you're right: a person could complete requirements b, c, and d, have his skills check dive on, say, Jump #22, and then make 3 more jumps (thereby completing requirement a.), at which point he can receive his A license.

I did a checkdive on someone's 18th jump last weekend. He was finished with Category H. Why wait? Hopefully he'll get his A-license this weekend.
