New V-Prototype? Can't Post

Rumor has it that a new V-Prototype has been spotted doing some damn fine flying in south Europe. Those in the know spill the beans please.

Hopefully the V-4 is a significant step above the V-3, not like the V-2/V-1 change.

Not this year, around mid 2011 most probably.
But there will be some other (major) new product updates done to the full pf line before that...

Protoptype Pics?

Just spotted some pics of a different looking suit in this item. Maybe the next V will look like this.

Kids are the best fans. That must have been fun!! Smile

For those with a keen eye.
The Red Bull Airforce training video also shows a previous prototype with some new unique features.

Lots of different features are being tried and tested, one prototype at a time. Improvements are already visiable in many areas, but making sure the client gets a AAA quality product, that really is a significant step forward compared to the current V3, testing will continue..

A little birdy tells me, we may see some footage of various V4x prototypes pop up online soon...
July next year is the earliest we expect to have anything ready for actual release...time will tell..Wink

Unless you have that actual suit, its a safe bet you dont have that.
Though the finer features on what makes that suit different from any other one, are hard to spot in the video.

All part of testing and trying...

The Vampire training video offers another look at the V prototypes. In this version, the wing root seems to have been extended all the way to the feet.

I does not matter what the various prototypes have.
Only the production version. The one you get with your order.

Gotta say that armwing extending to the ankles is awefully x-bird..ish like. Just say'n.

And the X-Bird inlets, armwing shape and leading edge inserts are all very V3ish.Wink

Seems that competition is driving development on both sides of the atlantic, and that's pretty cool.

Re: [jakee] New V-Prototype? [In reply to] Can't Post

The inlets are original Tony non fancy functional pockets that work, Period. PF has gone Tony on this.

I agree on the armwing planform. No more swept trailing edge that was easy to fly but too much drag when mega sized. They are now PF "V"- a- fied for more speed. All the new Tony models come this way. I love my super Mach but the new X-plane forms are faster for sure if a little more demanding to fly in the larger sizes. I love my V2 for its speed, never needed a 3.

The Tony leading edge inserts are just, again, a simple functional non overly elegant or complex way to shape the leading edges compared to profile hot wireing foam in a special fixture. In either design I doubt there is much of a benefit to us. Don't tell me it is airfoil shaping. We are draping triangles off our limbs. The chords are getting bigger is all. At the speeds we fly a constant round radius profile is just fine. Its feel good engineering basically. Like putting carbon fibre everywhere.

I know one of you Mutards will chime in with how you are getting into leading edge compressibility or achieving laminar flow and the inserts help. I expect this because its the wingsuit forum and some of you think you are Wernher Von Bond.
