Now well hey wait a minute... did you just say... free beer?
It's like you truly know what skydivers want. Brilliant!
And wait a minute again, did you say FREE otter loads? Like people don't even need jump tickets? What's the catch? Where are the strings attached? Surely you couldn't mean that skydivers can get on multiple plane loads for FREE for just showing up to a boogie!
Don't say that nothing is free......we've got free at C-Fest Baby! Just an update: we've just secured another load sponsor today. We are currently at 88 comped slots with more in the pipeline. Check out the 'Free Jumps' link at the CarolinaFest website. Shall be a grand time.....!!!
Another CarolinaFest Update: Thank you to Doggy Styles Mobile Grooming for sponsoring a load at this year's CarolinaFest, bringing our current sponsored load total to 5 or 110 free slots. This is Doggy Styles' second year sponsoring a load and we appreciate their support! We are working with more companies to bring more! Don't forget the free loads will be offered on Thursday morning and Saturday morning of the event.
Ohh Yeah................My Boy Simon, Amy Chmelecki, and Melanie Curtis organizing. I'll be there, and hope a lot of the Old Crew of freefylers will show.
Don't worry about the rust...........It'll look like your jumping with smoke. And that' cool.
Hope to see a Great turnout from the freeflyers from NC, SC, GA, FL, and VA.

Couple of quick updates as things are coming together rapidly.
SunPath is the latest major manufacture to join vendor row and VitaminWater is now the official beverage sponsor for CarolinaFest 2010. No jumper shall be thirsty! Thank you SunPath and VitaminWater.
The roll call for this event is on Facebook ----> CarolinaFest. We have 200+ RSVP'd. It's going to be a lot of fun and we're looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new one's.
CarolinaFest...it slices, it dices, it repels water...you'll get a Shamwow and a SlapChop in your boogie bag! Not only do we have more free loads to be announced but any regular Joe Skydiver can jump with........Simon Bones Palacio! Simon, please hold your autograph sessions until after the jump!
Things are coming together nicely for the event and we are very excited to be seeing old friends and new. A lot of things are well-organized and we are still working to bring more value to this event for everyone. We recognize the expense everyone goes through just to attend a boogie and our aim is provide a safe event, a fun event, and bring good value by offering the opportunity to jump on someone else's dime (two free jumps will offset your registration fee), a quality boogie bag and of course a strong organizer lineup. All that being said, we'll be at the Expo next week - please say hi if you'll be down there.
Great question on the free loads. Here's what we've got:
First come first serve at manifest with the following stipulations:
1. Rig must be packed in order to manifest. (must have rig with you when manifesting, but you do not need to be geared up). 2. Cannot manifest more than 3 loads out. 3. Others cannot manifest for you, nor can you manifest others. Everyone must manifest for themselves.
The best time to catch the free loads is on Thursday if you can make it. The first year we did this, we had a young lady who was a very fast packer and she made 5 free jumps.
Not much to it really. The Thursday loads will go on call at 8:00am. Saturday's loads will go on call at 7:00am.
I'd like to remind everyone to pre-register if you're for sure that you are coming. We plan to cap attendance at a around 300 to ensure that wait times for aircraft are not long, the opportunity to jump with LO's is fair and that the opportunity to get at least one free jump for everyone is there and the event can be managed properly without overextending resources. (That sentence may qualify as a run-on). In other words, we are wanting to ensure everyone enjoys a quality boogie which will diminish if too many are on-site. Hopefully, we'll get 300 jumpers, but based on pre-registration numbers now with three months to go, that's the number we are planning for.
I thought it was funny when LiquidSky Julio Ruiz couldn't get on his own free load...tandem, was it? I forget who was managing the manifesting and loading other than it wasn't the organizer.
Loved meeting some of the locals though...Bill, Ashley, Mike, etc.
Can any of you guys remember how many jumpers were there last year by chance?
Which year are you thinking of Pops? Last year I clearly remember only fun jumpers getting on those free loads and every promised slot was given away. I was there up and ready to go every morning. Maybe you're thinking of an older year where a separate and unrelated boogie organizer attempted to merge boogies?
As far as my memory serves, it was pretty easy. You walk up to the table with your rig and your buddies, manifest for the load, and get on without paying a dime. Is it possible one's memory degrades with age?

This is new...merge boogies? What with What? Was there something else going on there beforehand to merge into?

As it should be. BTW, free loads, what a concept! I wonder who thought of THAT idea?

Yes, it sure does. They say the mind is the first thing to go. I can attest that it's the second.
But in this case, it's the eyes that saw what they saw.
Now, no need to get all pumped up being defensive. No boogie goes off without problems of some sort or other. Some problems are inherent, while others take some planning and politics to create.

Just because you put smileys in it doesn't mean that it's humorous. It was definitely a dig.
Last year, there was a lot of negativity between the CarolinaFest and SkyFest supporters. We're not having that this year. This is a warning for everyone to keep things positive in both threads. If I have to remove anything, you may be banned without further warnings.
Yes, there has always been a boogie in June at Chester, you can do your research, it was the Rodriguez Brothers boogie.
FREE loads, we already had aorund 10 loads sponsored for the original Rodriguez Brothers boogie by the time Skyfest decided to move to Chester. If i recall this was already explained on last years discussions and even you agreed that we introduced FREE loads and that Skyfest introduced FREE jumps.
So lets leave out all the negative thoughts behind and move forward. Boogies are a place for people to join together have fun and leave all the real life politics, stress and crap at home, which is probably what many of us do every weekend on our way to the dz.
....and I had a damn good time when I was there in spite of all the negativity that sprang up.
One thought...Rodriguez Brothers boogie was the Cinco de Mayo boogie. You think anyone will be able to figure out why they called it that?
We sure enjoyed having the Rodriguez Bros, Dirty Sanchez, and all the others there all at the same time. What a great idea! Will all of them be there this year?
