Tipps for packing my Spectre Can't Post

Hi,
I have a problem packing my Spectre 170.
When i took the packing course, i was packing some old student canopy with probably >1000 jumps and packing wasn't difficult at all. You could even leave the chute on the floor without holding it and it wouldn't inflate a bit.

My Spectre is totally different. It has 120 jumps and the material is still very crisp. Everything works fine until i lay it on the floor. Pushing the air out of it is almost impossible, as it breathes air the moment i take my hands of it. After I do the s-folds the whole thing does not look very trustworthy...

Does anybody have some advise for me?

After wrapping the tail around it, lay it on the ground while continuing to hold the rolled tail on the underside of the package. Only then let that hand go. Control both sides of the package with both hands while lieing on it, and lie on it until the air is not just compressed in the package, but out of the package. Dress, repeat. Then fold.

Practice, practice, practice.

And have someone give you some tips in person. Works better than over the Internet. Yes, it'll take half an hour. But hey, it's winter, there's time. (Oh wait, you're in Ireland. If it's not winter, it's raining. You always have time for packing classes! Love the country though. Nice and green .. Smile)

when packing, think of your canopy as it was a woman.

Do NOT force her
Apply smooth and constant control on her
Let her think she can do what she wants, but gently yet firmly redirect her to her correct posture
Use both your hands and knees (I don't know how that would apply to a woman)

No reason to stop at hands and knees.

Use elbows, feet, upper legs, chest, chin, I've even seen someone use her teeth while packing.

How this would apply to a woman .. Blush

I have a Spectre150 and this is EXACTLY how I pack... I am tiny and have small hands so I make sure to use whatever I can to get her folded and in the bag.... It still looks pretty ugly, but it works.

Seriously though, and I think someone has mentioned it already, PRACTICE helps. A LOT. When Im bored at night, I'll pull mine down the hallway to practice packing.

Good luck! Smile

Here is a very brief intro to psycho packing. Ask your rigger to advise on this if you are interested in adopting it.

I converted to psycho packing after I lost control of the slider while struggling to fold my Spectre and had a nut buster of a slammer opening.

Hey, I always treat her like a woman, i even stroke her before going to bed (which gets my gf jealous).

I definitely will talk to people at my dz. The psycho pack locks very interesting, but im not sure if this is already something for me. I wanna master the pro pack before going psycho. It's winter now and there will be a lot of rainy sundays (ok, in Ireland theres always lots of rainy sundays) which i will spend practicing packing in my living room Smile

Psycho packing IS PRO packing. The difference is only how you get it into the D-Bag. The "Proper Ram-air Orientation" (PRO) is maintained.
