Hello Mark:
I don't know you, but i think you could have been a bit more diplomatic about what you've said here, and to whom it was addressed. I'm pretty sure you're aware of the PM function on this web site? Later.

I'm just guessing that he meant to make his point publicly.
I'm still getting the full ad every time I log in. That's an improvement over every new page, but still makes me think less of Subaru every time I'm forced to deal with it. I am allowing cookies, FWIW.

Online browsing + any "living" advertisement = no way in hell I will ever buy a product from that manufacturer.
This could only seem like a great online ad campaign to a roomfull of idiots who's internet experience is restricted to surfing dodgy porn sites with constant popups and security exploits.

Heya all,
Thanks you to everyone who took the time to send their feedback to NameMedia on this campaign. A quick update on where we are:
As Andrea mentioned above, the frequency cap for these ads has been reduced to 1 impression of the ad per user per day. Additionally, the ads will not be displayed in the Forums section.
This means is that only about 1% of the original campaign will be served. NameMedia was quite willing to turn off the campaign completely was it not for the fact that they are contractually bound to deliver impressions for this campaign.
It's not my place to defend NameMedia in this, however I think it is commendable that they were willing to listen and act on the feedback from the DZ.com community, giving up a non-trivial amount of ad revenue in favour of our user experience.

hahaha I love how people are getting bent about this ad. Could this drive a wedge between the DZ.com squatters and thier beloved site??? Its like a episode of Melrose place. Aready some are threatning to leave while others show there loyalty by sticking in there and accepting the mud splattered all over the screen when they log on. a little mud and advertising wont drive me away from my one true love...the only place that anyone will listen to my voice, a place where i can be "somebody". lol you guys are so dramatic!!!
I don't use it, nor do I ordinarily use ad-blocking software--I have AdBlock Plus for Firefox, but I normally use IE, and I'm very selective about what I block in InPrivate Filtering--because allowing advertising is one way I can support the sites I use regularly. (Something for people who use ad-blocking software to keep in mind.)
When any site starts to slow or outright disable my computer, however, all bets are off, so when the ads on this site started sending my CPU to 100%, I added the ad servers to my hosts file.

This is why I don't use them. I either deal with the annoyances or I don't use the site. I still have Yahoo as a home page so my tolerance is pretty high.
Granted, I was not on when this ad first hit so didn't feel the brunt of it, but also understand contractual obligations and penalties for breaches.
It's already happened so we have to deal with it. If something similar happens again, that's another story.

Should that not be, "Frap the site!!!"? (In keeping with my BSBD 'old school' theme).... I hope the 'dark side' humor never leaves. It acts as a good filter, to the very folks that I would rather NOT know....., like the 'old bat', that would sit in the spectator section of Phoenix/Z-Hills, and ask, "When do we get to see one of you people die?"....

Well in the middle of writing a reply in the forums the ad came across my screen. So much for not being in the forums. Oh well. I'm not in here enough to really care.
Subaru needs to rethink the way they get the attention of their potential customers.

I don't know why you can't interact with the site while it's doing that. I can still type in my username and password while it's doing it's thing. Doesn't slow me down at all. The only thing it does is prevent me from being able to read what the new articles are on the home page.

I was on IE on someone else's computer today and it froze me out of typing in my username & password.

I haven't seen the Subaru ad in a few days. Now there is this TinkerBell ad. It is much less intrusive than the Subaru ad, in that it does not splash mud all over the screen. But it pisses me off more, because anytime I try to load a page, this is the ONLY thing that will load. Brand new computer, great internet connection, but all I can load is FUCKING TINKERBELL when I want to look at dz.idiots.
