Earphones for the Tunnel
Can't Post
I just got these Shure SE115 earphones for tunnel flying and they rock. They have this 3M type earplug compression foam that blocks out external tunnel noise and all you hear is the music. I totally would NOT suggest these for coaching (hearing your instructor or student) or in the air (hearing your ditter), but for Huck Jams they rock.

ER6i by Etymotic Research are fantastic. I use them just as ear plugs at times when I don't want music. When I want music, the sound quality is fantastic.

It's better sound quality than the Shuffle, supports more formats and has a small lcd and more features. It's also less expensive. The 1GB one is less than $30 which is great if you loose it, or if it decides it needs some solo tunnel time.

ive used ultimate ears for ages, a bit of a tight fit with a full face, but still brilliant sound quality. my judgement is fairly poor so im splashing out for custom monitors, no way they can slip out + studio level sound. check em out...

I have a nice pair of Sony that go into the inner ear. They run around $40 not sure what model but I use them for the motorcycle. mowing and gym. Even use them when I happen to travel with friends so I can listen to my iPod not them snoring.

I haven't yet been in a tunnel, but I've jumped my Skullcandy Full Metal Jacket and heard everything quite clearly, even with a helmet full of holes. They come with earplug tips that get a good seal and don't fall out.
I got them for about $35 but they had a special at the time. I'm sure if you shop around, you can find a similar price. Also, if you break them for any reason, they let you rebuy at 50% off.

Check out Ultimate Ears. I've owned both Shure and UE and find the latter to be a better value since the cables are replaceable. I had a pair of Shures and one of the cables was damaged, pretty much had to throw the pair away.
