2-Pin CYPRES in a 1-Pin Container? (Was: CYPRES 2 SERVICE BULLETIN C2-0408) Can't Post

Hi, I am new in skydiving and I have millions of questions. One of them is: I have just bought a 1pin Wings container and I got a second-hand 2pin Cypres2. Can I put Cypres2 into my container?
I'd appreciate any adviceSmile

Yes.

There have been some cases of people simply stowing away the second cutter, but that's really not a "correct installation.

Since it's got a field replaceable cutter, you could order a new single head cutter from SSK(USA) or Airtec, or check with either and see if they will still do the swap for free if you send the unit in.

Talk to your rigger. You will need to buy a new 1 pin cutter to replace the 2-pin cutter for the cypres2.

So, if I understand well, I can keep my Cypres2 and just buy a part of it to change it into a 1-Pin AAD, right?

This happened recently when I was doing a reserve repack. the owner had purchased used equipment and had no idea that the Cypres was a 2 pin model. A call to SSK revealed that there was no real issue, however, the individual container manufacturer must authorize the use of the 2 pin in the container, as it was TSO'd for a 1 pin. They suggested altering to a one pin at the next opportunity and marking the reserve card as authorized by manufacturer and date.

Yes. The information is available on the Airtec website. Click the services button and scroll down to "Model change 1-pin <-> 2-pin"

Use in a 1-pin reserve container and the use in a 2-pin reserve container
All CYPRES can be used in both container types.
Through the plug-and-socket cutter connection a swop from 1-pin cutter to 2-pin cutter or vice versa can be simply done by pluging-out and pluging-in without opening the unit and without use of any tools.

Hi EirAnne,

as it was TSO'd

I hope that you are not saying that the AAD had a TSO. No AAD has ever had a TSO.

The Sentinel at one time had a PMA certificate; that's close as any AAD ever came to being 'certificated' by the FAA.

Of course not, it is the rig that has the TSO.
