I was searching stuff and thought it would be allot easier if your search results could be returned with just the thread name only, rather than all of the post titles within that thread. maybe i'm just doing it wrong. Thanks!
If I understand you correctly in wanting a resultset based on subject line only; have you tried selecting the dropdown box in the search options to "subject" instead of it's default, "subject and body?"
No I see that part, and it is handy, but what I want is that after the search the results listed are the thread title only, not all of the posts from within the thread. Because the results have allot of posts from the same thread
That is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you! Its too bad this isn't easily done by checking a box or something. I'm sure I will be checking back on this thread more than 1 time to remember what that command is!
That still doesn't work as well as some other searches.
On many forums, when you do a search in "Subject and body" (so you can get a full set of results since you might not find what you are looking for if you only search the body) there is an option to return results sorted by "Thread" or by "Post"
The way this forum works, you only have the option to return the results by post. sucks kinda.
Naw dude, thats what this does! It returns the title of the thread only, not the individual posts within it. I'm pretty sure you can still specify to search in just the body, title, or both.
The forum search function gets a lot of flack over on RC.com, and deservedly so. I'm getting ready to make some changes to it, though, and I'll give some heavy thought to bringing those changes this way, too. Jay
