closing loop -sa Can't Post

whats the real name of the line / material most commonly used in closing loops? For sport rigs? Like if I was gonna order some from para-gear? -LOL along with some fids to play with ,

And why would I want plastic fids as opposed to alluminum ones?

It's Type IIA suspension line sleeving http://www.paragear.com/webbing/indexline.htm. Plastic fids really suck. The aluminum ones are better; if you are going to use them professionally (as a Rigger), I suggest you get a machine shop to make you some out of stainless steel. I'm pretty sure you can get the aluminum ones from here: http://www.skydivemrvs.com/loft.html Good luck!

You can use a variety of lines for reserve closing loops.
The old standard is nylon Type IIIA, aka. gutted 550 cord.
500 or 800 pound Spectra suspension line also works well.
Lately, I have been using Cypres cord in most rigs. It is mandatory when installing a loop-cutter AAD. Cypres cord is a good idea even without an AAD because it reduces pull forces by 5 pounds!
