which still lens. HELP
Can't Post
I am going to filming tandems so I was going to jump the royal lens .5x or the liquid lens .45x for video. I need to know what size fixed focal lens for a canon xt would be compatible with the .5x or .45x. Hope this all makes sense I don't know much on the technical side of cameras.
It totally depends on the exact videocamera and videolens combination, all videocamera's are different and all lenses too... You will probably end up with a 16mm lens or so for stills. But best to try first.
A 15mm Canon EF lens, on my 20D (that I believe has the same 1.6 crop factor of your XT) can see 99.5 cm (39.17") wide when facing a wall at a distance of 65 cm (25.59"). I am measuring the 65 cm to the film plane index of the camera (there should be a smililar mark on you XT).
Now, just face your PC against a wall at a distance of 25.6 inches and see through the viewer how much wide across the wall you can measure.
Am I making any sense? Prolly not! Better upload a pic.

i haven't got the xt yet, I was posting this to basically see if I should get the body with the 18-55 lens or just get the body and get a fixed lens. So if anyone you know or have heard of is jumping this setup let me know please

You don't have to match exact. I have used a few lenses for my video camera that are narrower or wider then the still lens. Nothing extreme like a .3 or .2 but a few .5's and a .45 match close enough to the 18-55 lens that I'm not going to worry about 3 or 4 more inches showing or not showing in the still for most tandems.
