Altimeters can be seen just by looking back at your hand when you track. Where do you put the mirror to see above you?
Please see the picture I posted along with the explanation on how to use it. You are not supposed to use the mirror while tracking. You use it right before pulling.

I never stop tracking before pulling. Kinda hard to look in the mirror that way

OK, for the sake of argument lets say that you use a wrist mounted mirror exactly as you describe - you track away from a formation, flare out of your track, check your mirror and then see someone above you...
What then?
You've already stopped tracking. You've now limited your options - the primary one is now sucking it low. Way to go!
You will not be able to get back into an effective track and avoid someone simply because you need time and distance to build up the speed to do so.
Seriously, I'm curious what you think you'll do if you see someone above you in your wrist-mirror at 2500ft?

Don't you "wave off"?
Just roll over to see if anyone is above you and the need for a wave off is taken care of.

This is absolutely untrue, and is a very dangerous piece of advice to give. Waveoff isn't for you - it's for the people near you (who may not even be above you yet) to tell them you are about to pull. I don't care how good a barrel roller you think you are - you're still not going to see someone at your six o'clock just above you.
A waveoff is essential before the pull to warn other jumpers that they are about to see your canopy.

*sigh* there's always one...
Well, quite frankly, that advice is to weed out the slow swimmers. If anyone actually believed that, please, sell your gear to someone with a clue and get the hell out of the sport. I was wondering who would be first to bite.
Oh well, I think with all the talk of mirrors and such in this thread, I am going to have to leave before the insanity just gets too much for me and I start trolling the morons we have here.
Barrel roll or not, just don't fucking kill me.

From PM's I've received, people DO believe things like that. I got a PM recently asking me if it was true that everyone in the 400-way was required to barrel roll before pulling, and should they be practicing that. So I am very careful nowadays to identify what's bad/sarcastic advice.

Or to tell those on the ground to get out of my landing area.

I got a bad case of cramps from laughing to much. You should have said yes, but they have to attend a big way barrel roll camp.

Here's some advice for people. Stop taking advice from DZ.com period. It's assisting this sport to the mindless level of those that can only eat pudding in padded rooms with plastic spoons.

I've been watching and smiling while this thread has played out, but this last statement is this first one I've been compelled to respond to because now I have a dilemma.
"Stop taking advice from DZ.com period."
If I take you advice I have to not take your advice....
Reminds me of an old StarTrek episode when Spock confused an android. Edit: It might have been Kirk - memory fades, I am 50 you know.
Just in case anyone wants to know: I don't do barrel rolls, I don't use a mirror, and I track like my life depends on it because it does
